Huh? Are you referring to your original post when Web-tech jumped all over you? Seriously, don't worry about it. The earth still rotates around the sun unless he says otherwise.

FWIW there are other brands of "Velcro" that do a great job. I'm partial to the 3M products.
. No i was referring to the star trek reference!! I was not aware someone jumped on me, i dont look for intent in others comments. Live long and prosper!
Ah!

This post finally got me around to catching up on my Star Trek. Watched Star Trek Beyond last night. The little nod to Leonard Nimoy was touching.

Maybe that's the damned stuff northernerbill was complaining about?

Google suggests they're interchangeable, though "loop" seems to win the day....
Amazon does sell the pile version though... though I think this seller is a bit dubious, rephrasing the product as "hook and look" along with some egregious abuse of apostrophes.....

There. All clear now? Razz emoticon

Velcro is used on very expensive, high performance military gear and various other rigorous applications. Little doubt it's one of the better items of it's kind to come along. It flat out works.
Other than perhaps some lint in the hooks the best maintenance is replacement. Beware of crummy versions, otherwise the stuff is miraculous in what it can do! I have a pair of riding gloves that have many miles on them but my love affair with their comfy feel on my old worn out hands has been continued thanks to my sewing new velcro on the wrist strap several times. As I recall the "real thing" comes in various grades of holding power.
Can't say I've ever heard of the little mushroom thingy's as velcros original design mimics Mother Natures thistle seed heads, not mushrooms.

Smart of you, a well worked in pair of riding gloves is a beautiful thing and replacing the velcro a simple process. I've never really seen the mushroom thing either but it could be they are so small we don't notice when a product is using it? It's not something I stare at when I use a product.

Hated it when it showed up on our uniforms. I was Special Forces, Velcro makes 'noise', in my 'line of work' at that time 'noise' kills, we removed it replacing it with buttons.

I said in another thread not to rule out buttons as a contender Everything has it's place. Pretty sure the the copyright on buttons has run it's course.
