Hi all,

Seems like I am posting on here each week and my MP3 is continuing to let me down. I recently replaced the fuel injector (pretty easy job) and the Scoot is starting and running idle like its brand new. My issue is that when riding I am losing power, they revs drop down and I struggle to get over 35mph. Anyone had this issue? not mechanically inclined and my local repair shop have ever worked on a MP3 (I'm in Florida).

I have just charge the battering in cause that was an issue, I am not getting the check engine light and for the first 2 miles its absolutely fine. I don't want this dying on my on the highway.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

hard to diagnose when you don't have the scooter in front of to see whats going on. Try taking a video during a ride, maybe from a couple different angles as well.

Hello
It's possible you have a problem at the fuel pump
In your tank you had a fuel pump
The problem is not a fuel pump but in the fuel pump module
You had an fuel filter and an fuel tube entre the pump and the filter
This fuel tube broke
Change this but with an fuel tube in strong plastic

are you able to check voltage of scooter when revving? your battery may still be the problem. or the regulator may be shot. on a side note I am about to install a volt meter onto my 250 mp3 this morning for the very same reason with regard checking electrics are healthy when riding.
same as this one I installed on a previous mp3 you can just make it out lower left of pic.

the only way for a fuel pump to rust like this is WATER in the gas and running most of the time with low fuel or letting it sit with low fuel for long periods of time..

So bit the bullet and took it to Clearwater Vespa.

They confirmed that is the fuel pump (of course) and I have an issue with my rear brake caliper that keeps sticking. all in for $600.

wow, sounds really cheap does that..... Razz emoticon service the rear brakes yourself .its probably just surface rust on calipers/pins. in the uk the 250 had a recall on the fuel pump and was covered under warranty. you can buy an after market one on ebay for around £30 and fit it yourself but it does take a while due to most of the plastics need to come off. also worth checking the hand brake is working as if fuel pump is done its easy to change a handbrake cable at the same time, again because of all the plastics being off. good luck with getting it done. when my fuel pump stopped working though it would shut the bike down. and after a while would let it start again after it had cooled down. it never slowed the revs/engine speed down. are you sure your electrics are working correctly. ie volts reading 14 ish when revving and not spiking or dropping below 12v?
