My hobby is to restore vintage Vespas. I am now busy with the 52nd Vespa. The oldest one I have restored is a 1961 VGLB1T.

Last year I have restored a 1974 200 Rally. Original parts, original engine, original seat, original speedo, painted in original colour (PIA806). I converted it to 12V with an SIP stator.

It is not electric start and does not have the autolube system.

The Vespa market in South Africa is not that big, and a 200 Rally is a bit pricey. Is it worthwhile to try and sell it in Europe? The USA is a bit far.

I think distance does not matter for shipping.
Shipping cost would be not much more expensive even much far.

I just ask because there is a guy that rides around on an orange Rally here in CT with a little dog. Thought it might be you.

Hello,

I am in London UK. I might be interested in buying your rally depending on how much you want for it? Let me know

Thanks

Hi Danie,

thanks for this. At your asking price, with the extra cost of shipping to the UK and the hassle of registering here, it's probably worth just looking for a UK one. The ones which are sensibly priced are around the £5-6k mark.

thanks anyway
Olly

Just fly down there, and drive it back up! Call Piaggio HQ, SIP, SCK etc.. for a financial sponsorship and free parts, and sell the rights to the vlog to BBC4. If they're not interested, just put on some makeup and say the trip is to raise awareness on the plight of transgenders in Africa, that'll do it (and cover the cost of the bike as well)!

1974 Vespa Rally 200
I have a 1974 Vespa Rally 200 that has been unused and in my garage for about 10 years. I live in Randburg. Are you interested to buy?

Here are some pointers:
17300km
Engine turns when the kickstarter is depressed
Resprayed and looks good(will send photos if you are interested). Red colour does not quite match original. White striping was not re-instated
I am the original owner an have the registration cert, the owners manual and original tool kit.
As far as I can remember, before I stopped using it to commute (I got a company car) :
The headlght would not dim
The clutch made a clicking noise when engaged
Th kickstarter needs a new cotter pin
The back tyre needs attention (flat)
The speedometer's needle wasn't steady, it swung around
Upon storage the petrol tank was emptied and some oil was injected through the spark plug hole.
No collisions, two low speed falls resulting in some some side scrapes, hence the respray.
The scooter will have to be re-registered.
