I hear there is now a school of thought that the 20/20 carb is better on a 177 kit instead of the 24/24 carb. I not found any comments about the whys and wherefore's of this yet. Can anyone enlighten me please.

SIP recommends to use 24 or higher carburetor with any of 177cc.

24
Did both...def 24/24 and I have done this lots of diff engines and many times. those that say the 20 is hard to "dial in" had seal or electrical issues and blamed the carb.

24 was game changer for top end and acceleration.....even on a stock 1 fiddy..and esp on a 177 tune

No replacement for displacement (or a bigger hole ....errr....in the carb )

\good luck

It depends on the build. I've run both on my moderately kitted 177 scoots, and honestly, there isn't much difference. The 24/24 adds maybe 1 mph top speed, while the 20/20 is more responsive and accelerates faster. If you have a more demanding engine... big ports, big inlet, cut crank, expansion pipe, etc.. a 24/24 might be the better choice, but otherwise 20/20 is fine.

I have a Pinasco 177 (2-port) with a 20/20, and it's pretty good. I haven't tried the 24/24. Full disclosure: Running a SIP fast flow tap 2.0 with SIP road 2.0 exhaust.

Here's the carb set up:
Idle 55-160
Air Corrector: 160
Mixer: BE3
Main Jet:125

Polini venturi, and Pinasco carb cover (read: larger, more air, less restrictive)

Plug: NGK B8HS

Seems to work for me.

Good luck!
