Modern Vespa

I found this via a link from Fark.com... it doesn't even mention what type of scooter it was, but it does make you think about some of those old folks still being a bit tough...

MELBOURNE, FL -- A man trying to swipe a scooter tangled with the wrong woman on Monday.

50-year-old Melbourne, Florida resident Grace Heuseinkveld stabbed the would-be thief as he was dragging her gas-powered scooter across her driveway.

"I'm proud of her. You have a right to protect your property," husband C.W Heusinkveld said.

Heusinkveld knew all along his wife was tough.

When the thief tried to drag away their scooter, she picked up a heavy, forked weeding tool.

She thrust it into his back so hard he fell over, and she fell on top of him.

"She's probably tougher than I am. I don't want to mess with her, and I'm married to her," Heusinkveld said.

The 74-year-old was asleep when it happened.

He said it was lucky for the thief that he was.

Police came up empty handed when they searched for the thief, but Heusinkveld said he is ready in case he returns.

They never found the gardening tool.

Police think the suspect will eventually show up in a hospital.

OLD FOLKS? 50-year-olds are old folks? Sheesh!

There are many stories about and eye for any eye but I am not sure I would stab someone if they were taking by scooter. I might kick his ass if I could get ahold of him, or shove a .45 cal in his face if I had one close (I would not have shot him), and if he got away then I would have let my insurance company buy me a new one.

Actually, maybe that is a good way to deter scooter theives - offer them a Fosters!!!

Haha...this makes me laugh. Each year that I get closer to 50 (will be 45 this year), 50 seems young. I certainly don't feel I look like I'm 45 and I KNOW that I FEEL like I'm 20 and ACT like I'm a kid.

It's truly just a number and "grandma" in this article here proves it! 50..old...no way.

getting old chronologically is all about believing in linear time. give up that belief and you're sorted. makes more sense in the cosmic order of things anyway.

Hey 50 years old is really old. Don't you start loosing all your teeth when you turn 50.

I think age 50 is the year that all the women that never married start picking up more and more cats to live with them.

Also I am not sure but I think this is the year that your brain starts to shrinking.. I think the only cure is drinking or riding your scooter.
