My 2015 Primavera has Kilometers as the primary measure on the speedometer. Has anyone come up with a way to replace the scale to make MPH the primary?

Obviously using the formula of 1 km/h = 0.6213711922 mph and doing the math in your head while riding down the road is beyond most of us. I simply use the indicated speed...example: divide 100 km/h by 2 = 50 divide 100 km/h by 10 =10 ...................................60 mph Add the two numbers and your close enough vs the actual 62.1 mph. Interesting head hack! It has mph too, I'm just being lazy about seeing my speed at first glance.

Analog speedometer.
Are we talking about the same thing?
The Speedometer is analog that shows the speed in MPH and KM on the face of it. I'm sending you the steps to change the trip odo and total odo. Those are digital. |

If I'm going 100 KPH, I think of 5/8 of that, or a little more than half. 60ish. (100 divided by 8 is about 12, and 12 x 5 is about 60.) That's why metric never became practical in the US, people made it hard. Road signs said, "Atlanta, 60 miles/96.56 km." Seriously, does anyone believe that they put the sign exactly 60.00 miles from the dead center of Atlanta? I'd be amazed if it was within 10 miles of correct. So why not just say "Atlanta 60 miles/100 km."? |

I use the head hack. I GPS the speedo for 30-50-70 that way, most of my ride, I'm not going more than 5mph over the limit.
52kph=30mph 90kph=50mph 122kph=70mph Besides, most scoot speedo's are 10% off. The Honda is spot on and Honda isn't too cheep to put U.S. speedo's on bikes they sell in the U.S. |

Always told the kph to Mph formula was divide by 8 multiple by 5.
Reverse for other way So 48kph = 30mph 64kph = 40mph 80kph = 50mph 96kph = 60mph 112kph = 70mph Mark the top clear plastic with a black marker pen or thin strip of gaffer tape or small tape dot to remind you. |

I multiply the kph spped by .6 in my head, ignoring the decimal.. Close enough unless you're in a school zone.

I had the opposite situation. My analog speedometer came in Miles and I use Kms. It started to get humidity inside and the dealer changed it under warranty. I ask them if they could install the new one in Kms and they did!

It stems from the EU mandate that no speedo should under-read.
https://www.thecarexpert.co.uk/how-accurate-is-a-car-speedometer/ www.thecarexpert.co.uk wrote: The law for car speedometers in the UK The UK law is based on the EU standard, with some minor changes. A speedo must never show less than the actual speed, and must never show more than 110% of actual speed + 6.25mph. So if your true speed is 40mph, your speedo could legally be reading up to 50.25mph but never less than 40mph. Or to put it another way, if your speedo is reading 50mph, you won't be doing more than 50mph but it's possible you might actually only be travelling at 40mph. To ensure that they comply with the law and make sure that their speedometers are never showing less than true speed under any foreseeable circumstances, car manufacturers will normally deliberately calibrate their speedos to read 'high' by a certain amount. As your satnav is not the designated device by which a car's speed is measured, it does not need to incorporate any fudge factoring. |
