Does anyone know what spec oil and how much fills the CVT on the new HPE models?

Oil-filled CVT???!!???

Are you sure you don't mean final drive transmission? If so, I imagine it hasn't changed from any of the other MASTER engine years and models.

Sometimes known as the rear hub. The rear hub is oil-filled on all Modern Vespa engines as well as the Master engine.

wow Piaggio must be amazing as the CVT is in an oil bath and the clutch is a dry clutch according to the spec sheet.

so how do they get the oil to separate in the cases? or do they just say "oil don't go near the clutch" but of course those quotes would be in Italian.

Something doesn't make sense. Maybe they've mistaken the "wet" clutch of the 350 for a "wet" CVT?? A "wet" CVT can't work without a steel drive belt. I also don't see any changes on the CVT cover...

I did wonder. Have heard of the multi plate clutch on the 350 but have seen mention of this oil bath on two sites now.
Do they just copy each other?

Should have my new 500 hpe by the end of the month so will find out then once its stripped down.

look at the piaggio site, don't go by a 3rd party tester OPINION who FAILED to properly research and know the product.

the only thing piaggio change to call it a HPE is the engine area only nothing in the CVT, hell you can see that in the parts listings

The new 350 has a wet clutch setup. new new 500 is the same as the original with a hub being filled with oil and a dry clutch setup.

Phew thanks NewGuy

The clutch that came with my 2016 500 was dogs droppings but once replaced with the malosi hit clutch it transformed the bike.

Can't wait to tune my new one up slightly.

If your talking about the "Rear Hub" I use Motul 300 Gear Oil 75W90 on all my Bikes. CVT does not have Oil in it, unless it just recently changed; I would be surprised they did that to the Master Engine.

Suggestion: Update your Profile with your Bike Info, it's helpful when responding to posts. Even though your Title says it.

Dear Keith I haven't got the new bike yet, It should be here for the end of the month (unless brexit delays it!) Then I will update my profile.

The mp3 350 seems to now come with a wet clutch

"One unique feature of the MP3 350 is its engine, being the first scooter to feature an automatic multiple-disc clutch in oil bath. Technology usually only seen in motorcycles, this is a direct address to early complaints that a 3 wheeler's increased weight can be problematic upon releasing the suspension lock and pulling away if you don't get smooth acceleration. Putting a foot down to right a 256kg machine isn't the easiest thing. According to Piaggio this new technology should absorb potential jerks or jumps in transmission creating smooth stationary starts and eliminating the issue all together."

Maybe this has created confusion in this review somehow ?!

Any Piaggio bike which receives the 350 engine will have a wet clutch, as that is part of the 350 engine/transmission design (just as a wet clutch is NOT part of the 500 Master engine design).

Wow...
Ok, your Subject said 500, so that was what I was thinking when I responded.

Concerning the MP3 350, I hope we get to see those in the US.
I would probably trade my 500 for the 350, since I don't like this engine.

I "Love" my 2009 MP3/250 it just needs some more power.
I often think about upgrading it to a 300 via Malossi modification, but since the bike is so Old, its hard to spend the money.

Take Care,
Keith
