I've looked around a bit for more information on this scooter tag thing, but haven't come up with much. Can somebody point me to a link to describe how this works, so possibly me, and the other 5 people in Metro Detroit who ride scooters, can play?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but there are two versions. One is a purely local version where someone posts a photo with their scooter and some local place in the background. That becomes the tag and the player has to identify the spot and take a picture with their scooter in the same location. Then they post a new picture of their scooter in a different place for the next person to get the tag and post a new one. That would be the type for the LA scooter tag mentioned.
The other variant doesn't depend on a specific local site. Instead you take a photo with a particular type or item in the background. For example a recent tag that I got on ADVRider was your scooter reflected in a building. I happened to need to go to the local Apple store that has huge plate glass windows so I took a photo of the red Vespa I was riding (my husband's scooter) and used that to get the reflection tag. Just because I was lazy I used the same photo to set the new tag which was your scooter with an Apple since the logo was clearly visible in the shot. Other recent tags were your scooter with a sign that had a car on it, your scooter visiting a library, food truck, bridge, the sort of thing that isn't explicitly location specific. Sometimes it can be very open to interpretation since one recent tag was a scooter in front of a road closed barrier and the tag was "something that disappointed you in a ride." I got that one by moving my scooter to the front of the garage and taking a photo of the 6' high snow bank next to the garage door and the 18" of snow then on the driveway.
The rule there is that if nobody gets the tag after 72 hours then a new one can be posted. That game has been going on for year so there have been duplicates for example a local brewery, coffee house or food truck I know for a fact has appeared more than one but the general POV is that don't repeat a recent tag.
I'm not sure what the nationwide scooter tag on this site Pam mentioned rules are since I didn't know it existed. I thought the ones here were all area specific.
