Check out the LA scooter tag thread. My poor RIP Prince tag has been sitting un-tagged for close to 3 years. So long the wall mural was painted and changed. But it is still taggable. And here in LA we cannot blame bad weather for the 3 year lag in our game.

Just wanted to bump this tag in gen pop in case new forum LA riders aren't aware of our fun game.

Waiting for revival. That is all. Thanks.

I play the scooter tag game on ADV Rider because it isn't location dependent. Tags have been gotten all over the world there including from Australia and Portugal (by me on rentals).

That's pretty cool. I've played the MV nationwide scooter tag here too. But I'm really hoping to revive the LA tag. Like I said we've got year round rideable weather. It's odd that LA has very few scooter clubs and the game has hit an all time lull low.
Scoot !!

For me scooter tag gets frustrating whenever someone points out that tag is used.

Seriously, to me a game of scooter tag has no memory and should have none. If it devolves into a small group making a circle of the same tags the world will get the point eventually. I don't have time or inclination to go through the last 5 years (or 10) of tags to make sure my idea hasn't been used.

I've looked around a bit for more information on this scooter tag thing, but haven't come up with much. Can somebody point me to a link to describe how this works, so possibly me, and the other 5 people in Metro Detroit who ride scooters, can play?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but there are two versions. One is a purely local version where someone posts a photo with their scooter and some local place in the background. That becomes the tag and the player has to identify the spot and take a picture with their scooter in the same location. Then they post a new picture of their scooter in a different place for the next person to get the tag and post a new one. That would be the type for the LA scooter tag mentioned.

The other variant doesn't depend on a specific local site. Instead you take a photo with a particular type or item in the background. For example a recent tag that I got on ADVRider was your scooter reflected in a building. I happened to need to go to the local Apple store that has huge plate glass windows so I took a photo of the red Vespa I was riding (my husband's scooter) and used that to get the reflection tag. Just because I was lazy I used the same photo to set the new tag which was your scooter with an Apple since the logo was clearly visible in the shot. Other recent tags were your scooter with a sign that had a car on it, your scooter visiting a library, food truck, bridge, the sort of thing that isn't explicitly location specific. Sometimes it can be very open to interpretation since one recent tag was a scooter in front of a road closed barrier and the tag was "something that disappointed you in a ride." I got that one by moving my scooter to the front of the garage and taking a photo of the 6' high snow bank next to the garage door and the 18" of snow then on the driveway.

The rule there is that if nobody gets the tag after 72 hours then a new one can be posted. That game has been going on for year so there have been duplicates for example a local brewery, coffee house or food truck I know for a fact has appeared more than one but the general POV is that don't repeat a recent tag.

I'm not sure what the nationwide scooter tag on this site Pam mentioned rules are since I didn't know it existed. I thought the ones here were all area specific.

That sounds fun. I'll keep my eyes open for one in my area. Thanks!

I searched the scooter tag forum here and don't see a Detroit scooter tag thread. I say go for it and start a Detroit scooter tag thread. Game on!!

Someone made a Google Doc or something listing all the tags used by the L.A. Tag players -- if memory serves, there were more than 100.

The boundaries for LA Scooter Tag are "anywhere in LA County".
I'm pretty sure that whoever established that failed to consider just how far-flung Los Angeles County actually is...

Among other places, L.A. County includes Malibu out to Leo Carillo State Park, the Grapevine out to Gorman, Lancaster, Mt. Baldy (the town but not the ski area), Pomona, Cerritos, Long Beach, and (surprisingly) both Catalina and San Clemente Islands.

In fairness, I don't think we're going to see any San Clemente Island or Catalina Island tags.

(Ok, now that I've typed that, some Vespa-owning Catalina resident is going to post just to prove me wrong.)
