I'm having issues with the little clip thingies that hold the mudguard crest on. they slip on but seem really loose. one literally just falls off and the front one "sort of" stays but is certainly not holding in tight and would definitely fall off if running.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there some trick I'm not privy too? I can't really find anything on-line about them.

I assumed from what I did find that the curve goes "up", but I even tried both ways.

I considered trying to reshape them but didn't want to do that till I knew what shape I would need to alter them too.

....At this point I"m ready to just cover them in Gorilla Glue. ha.

I'm just sick of those holes in my mudguard.

The holes look oversized and seem to not fit super well so I'm assuming I just need to reshape them slightly.
I just don't wanna fuck 'em up or the crest to rattle loose at 50mph.

Those fasteners are called 'push nuts', and yes, they should fit tightly. You probably have the wrong size.

Take the trim piece to a hardware store and see if you can find a size that fits better.

The flat side goes against the fender, the curved side faces out.

If you're not a stickler for originality, a few blobs of clear Shoe Goo will also hold it in place.

Thanks.
I'll see if I can adjust these first and if not I guess I'll head to the hardware store.

I was gonna suggest the same thing. I no longer trust the original push nuts after they've been off and that post they slip on to gets worn down smaller too. Shoe Goo is cheap insurance, just put a gob on the pushnut and push it on. It's tough & sticks well but fairly easy to remove without a trace if you ever need to.

A good way to push on "push nuts" is with a socket that's about halfway between too small and too big, it's a little hard to describe. Think of a push nut as really being a spring plate with a press fit on a center shaft. You want to press it down evenly, but too close to the edge and it might not be tight enough... too close to the shaft and you may overcompress the spring until something weakens or breaks.
