My Vespa is being painted and soon I need to install the legshield trim. Something I have never done before. I have the tool but need to order the trim from SIP.
I have watched videos on youtube and noticed that there seem to be two ways to do it? In one video they first attach it by squeezing the trim at points and then let the tool roll and make it even and smooth. In the other video they start to roll with the tool evenly straight away. Which is right?
How much under the floor trim should the legshield trim go on a Vespa Sprint. I attach a photo of how it was before I started my project.

Not a Sprint, but here's the technique.

Oh and not all leg shield crimping tools are created equal. Get the "factory" (i.e. expensive) tool if you want it to look right. The rollers on cheaper versions don't fit the bead quite as well and make smooth installation almost impossible.

Frankie- give me a few hours and I'll send photos from the Technica manuals of the trim.

Like SoCal said get the right tool. It should come with two different sized rollers. If yours only comes with one, you can order the two pack from sip.

Rally or Sprint?
External inline image provided by member with no explanatory text
Yeah, the Sprint came with the rolled on aluminum trim but if you're talking about the Rally 200 in your other thread, it originally had the hard to find Ulma stainless steel trim held on with tiny screws from behind. The Rallys came with the number 044 stamped on the trim. This will also fit other largeframes. More here : UPDATED: Definitive Legshield Trim Thread

Thank you! That info will help me alot. That will explain the holes under the trim? What kind of trim should there be around the glovebox? Now I have that same black trim.
Could this be a replacement beading?

I have two projects. One Sprint and one Rally 200.
Here on the picture are the tools I have in use for installation of the trim on the Sprint.
