Hello,

I am trying to find an electrical connector that looks like this, and would plug into what this will plug into. I'm not looking for something that will plug into this. Any ideas as to the name of the connector, where to source it, etc, would be greatly appreciated. So would close up photography tips.

Tips -- set a ruler or a coin next to it so we can get a better sense of its size. Are there any numbers or markings on it at all? Any idea of what it's from? Automobile, consumer electronics, appliance, etc.? Is it from a scooter?

It looks like there may be some components potted inside the shell (under the light colored epoxy).

Photography tip -- a "Macro" mode, if the camera has one, is for close-ups. Many real digital cameras except for the cheapest ones have a Macro mode. I don't know about phones. My iPhone does not.

Can you measure the distance between the two pins of the connector? Could be standard spacing of 0.1 inch? 0.156 inch? 2mm, etc.?

Here are some better photos, that I did not take. I am looking for a connector that looks like this, not one that looks like ti fastens to this. I want to plug something else into the connector this used to plug into.

Hope this helps.

Can you measure the distance between the pins? That would help a lot.

Is the socket you want to connect to on the end of some wire, or chassis mounted? If the former, just cut it off and use a different (but more readily available) connector.

That works for me, on my personal bike. But what I'm trying to do is put together a plug and play kit for a brand of scooter that is experiencing a lot of failures of this particular part, and a distributor that is not providing parts.
I have one of these scooters, and found out, when this part failed on mine, that another company's part would work, if you can plug it in.
I figured out that an AWG fitting will go into the new part, but this one has me stumped. This company uses a lot of Denso connectors on other parts of their engine, and there are some Deutsch fittings that look similar, but I learned just about everything I know about electrical fittings in the afternoon I spent trying to find this one.

Might try contacting Mouser. They helped me find the connections I needed for a light bulb wire. I had a really hard time navigating their website though, so might be best to just call or email them w/ the good photos first.

If this works, I'll send you an invoice for my consultation fee. Laughing emoticon

Another option is to try asking on a dedicated electronics site like electronics stack exchange. There seem to be several similar questions there (https://electronics.stackexchange.com/search?q=What+type+of+connector).

But, as already mentioned, you would need to provide connector dimensions in addition to the photos.

If you don't have an account there and don't want to bother setting one up, I'd be happy to post it on your behalf (once you provide the dimensions to include).

If your part is from Piaggio, Piaggio and most of the European manufacturers use MTA connectors and terminals. Here's their full catalogue...

In the course of tracking down a connector, I discovered that the part I was trying to replace is fairly common and cheap once you take the
Scooter distributor/dealer business model out of the equation. It's a part that is still used on a few different brands of decent quality (means Not Chinese) scooters, commonly fails at 8-12K miles on a scooter, and is usually out of stock, four month waiting period, etc.
It turns out that I could have ordered one at a Chevy dealer. It was used by quite a few auto makers in the 90s. NGK, Nippon Denso, Bosch and a whole lot of generic companies make or have made this part. You can buy the correct part at retail for a lot less than my workaround costs.
