Hello. I understand the idea of doing plug chops but do I have to use a new plug every time. Could I use old plugs, saw the thread off to check the insulator. When it looks right use a new one and cut that up to make sure. Or do I buy and ruin a box of new plugs?

Unless you're running a highly tuned race machine, balls to that malarkey.

For every day use with a normal engine, just check your plug at WOT and if it's a nice chocolate brown, however old the plug is, crack on with confidence.

The reason to use new plugs is to have a clean slate to read from.
