If you do go with the RAM mount (I use it also) get this little rubber web looking thing that goes right behind the mount. You pull the corners over and onto the corners of your phone.
I did this after losing a new iphone on then highway at 70. The RAM grips are great but not full proof and for about a buck its well worth it.
I do also use my MP3 to its fullest extend and enjoy off roads also

Or, just get a mount your phone will not come out of unless the mount itself breaks and you can get wireless charging now, so no cables to keep the phone charged.

I use RAM Quick-Grip XL mount, mounted it on a handlebar plastic cover and it doesn't close instruments. I use it upside down, found it much more convenient to use in such way. I can put and take out my phone just with one hand. Pretty budget solution, less than $50 and it holds my phone very well.

As dangerous as it looks. But I did get my first GPS speed reading.
