This has two leads coming from the stater harness to go into it. It looks like the power may be running from one side going through and then coming back? One green wire, going through the coils and apparently through the coil exactly the same on the other side, and then back through a blue wire to another post.

Anyone know what this actually is and what function it serves?

Curious... can you explain the wiring to it better ? Looks like some sort of resistance connection to ground.

Looks like a ballast resistor. Maybe has (or used to have) a 6v coil.

from the stater it comes in to the plate. there is one blue wire that goes from a connected pin, to the coil 'thingy' then I assume the current is carried through to the other side, then a green wore goes to a pin on the plate that seems to terminate.
