Person selling bike said they got a letter about some exhaust leak from Vespa. Theirs wasn't subject but took it to dealer anyway to have service performed. Is this a problem that will happen again later or if dealer serviced it, it should be good to go? Also, they said in order to do it, the seat had to be removed and broke the hinge in doing so...they installed a new factory seat. Does this sound like something (the service) that anyone's had done recently? Thanks!!! Also, any other problems asscociated with the 2007 GTS that I should inquire about? Is their a VIN that I should check to see date of manufacture to see if there are any other problems happening on certain bikes according to manufacture date?
Sounds like the dealer is a dope! Use the search function to search for GTS recall. There's several links to the affected VIN numbers. (I'm too lazy to search for you )
Also, sizewise of the bike (not the engine or wheels but riding position) like the frame the throttle...is it much bigger than the LX150's? I have seen them passing on the road but I've never sat on a GTS. Is it a much heavier feel to the bike than the LX150? Also, are they capable of going on highway or is that a state to state thing? Speed limit on highway is 65 and I know they will top out about 80 MPH. My LX150 states 59 MPH top speed and it will do it fine but if there's a strong wind, it takes a little time to get up to speed. Is that the same with the GTS to its top speed or does it achieve top speed in a strong wind easier because of the fuel injection and size difference of the engine. Last, it it much quieter at high speed engine wise because of the FI as compared to the carburetor on the LX150. Bike with 2000 miles for $4,300...good deal or not? Not from a dealer but friend of a friend.
yes, it is much bigger and heavier, but if i can handle it you can! the are definatly highway capable. it accelerates much much quicker than LX150. GTS is quieter than LX. price sounds okay... make sure they have service records though.
Yeah. I spoke to him and said he replaced seat because bracket broke off when service to check exhaust leak was performed. Sounds fishy to me...hmmm...maybe it had that fire thing going on and melted old seat. I don't know...but if so, I can check service records and dealer should have that. Worst case scenario...seat did melt...hopefully it was fixed so that doesn't happen again. Is there any other reason to replace the seat with a duplicate of the original other than that?
