Extremely Rare
ORIGINAL Vespa Demi-Jet Helmet DOT Approved
Pearl White Color (will get a blue tone when the light hits it!)
NO RESERVE
For Sale, this rare ORIGINAL Vespa Helmet bougt for my wife's Vespa ET4 that was stolen.
The helmet was mine (her's was stolen with the scooter) and was used very few times (maybe 5) when we rode together on her scooter. I have my own bike and we usually ride separate.
The size is medium - 57 (common size for adults), it was made in Italy just like the Vespa's.
See the beautiful vintage metal Vespa badge! Proving originality.
The only flaw of this helmet is three nicks only visible from about 6 inches (see close-up picture) .
Don't let this oportunity go by, there is no telling when you will see another helmet like this one to match your very special Vespa scooter.
Ok I already bought it but I wanted to see what you thought of my purchase, I called my dealer and a new Vespa Helmet was selling for $275
so I felt I got a great deal for $140 plus shipping.
what do you think?

OMG what a steal!!! That's an incredible deal. Why can't I ever find a deal like that? I paid $800.56 for mine!!

...that better?

edit: I mean, I just did a quick google search for 'Vespa helmet' and 1st three links I clicked on had them retailing for $200-$250. I'm sure $140 is good. I got mine for free b/c when I bought my scoot the guy just threw it in (along with the vespa scooter cover and a really nice Tucano Urbano skirt). In turn I gave it to a friend to use until he gets his own helmet...plus it was too small for me. Good deals are all relative you know?

It's a terribly over priced helmet already. You can buy a million other kinds of open face helmets for half the price you paid for that one. Hope that answers your question.

It seems like a fair deal in comparison to a new Vespa helmet. Although I have seen used ones go for much cheaper on ebay.

Mate! This helmet will not protect your cupcake hole There is a recent post on here, please read it....

So, my suggestion is buy a full face helmet. The only time i ride with an open face is around town (Sometimes).

The real question is "what is yer heed wurth man?"
I still use my 10 year old Arai, worth every dollar i spent.

If it's the Vespa thingy Get a TATTOO

Goodluck mate.

Cheers

Lol...by the way, I love (what I assume is) the Scottish phonetic spelling, "what is yer heed wurth man?" . Laughing emoticon

As for Jimh's loving comment...I'd say a moron is someone who asks a question but only wants to hear what they want to hear. In me best jimh impression, "If ye don't waant to hear tha'answer, than don't aask tha fookin' question."

Since you got such an amazing deal on that thing, put it right back up on eBay. You'll undoubtedly find someone willing to pay much more for it.

Petrol said it right the first response ......If YOU think it's a deal its a deal. Money is irrelevent if it's something you love...and really want. I personally wouldn't buy a used helmet at any "deal".

WOW! REALLY?

IMO buying an open faced helmet is "Education in reverse"

Goodluck with your purchase mate Please note that many of us maybe talking and or venting experience here. I think if you were concerned about safety then you may have posted prior to you purchase. If it's a bargin to you then great, enjoy it mate.

Again, Goodluck and ride safe.

I've just sold a bunch of these for $75, through E-bay and close outs on our website and in the store. They were ex-showroom models.

At least you'll still *have* a head if you ever crash. Keep wearing it. But I completely know what you mean. When I pull up to a stoplight on a warm day with my helmet on, shield down, light-weight jacket, gloves, and jeans on I know the Romans around me are trying to figure out what I'm smoking.

Dude, your whole point of this thread is to get someone to pat you on the back and tell you Ata'boy. I really dont care about your[reserve rude adjective] Helmet and I certainly dont care what you paid for it. I was trying to give you a reasonable response and that was about as good as you're going to get. Do you want other people to do your post-purchase research for you or what? Compare my post to what you saw afterwards; 'dont grind your face off' etc.

Here: WOW! I cant believe you got such a great deal! I never come across deals like that, you are so lucky! There.

Do you still want my honest opinion? Ok then, I think its a pansy helmet and nearly worthless to begin with. I would buy it for my wife if not for the fact that I love her face the way it is. However, I never buy things like helmets second hand and I dont think you got a good deal considering you saved a $20 spot or two for a used helmet.

Oh, I don't think this thread was that bad. Lesson here kids is: never say how much you paid for anything, because there's always going to be someone around that will say you could have gotten it cheaper. Also, don't expect a pat on the back for what you think is a deal.
I'm sure that guy will LOVE his helmet.

Only if it matches the scoot! lol

But ... let's chill this thread out a bit shall we. If the OP wants a used 1/2 helmet so be it. But leave the name calling OFF of Modern Vespa.

More to your question though ... I think you got ripped off on the 30.00 shipping fee!

I DO NOT like being asked how much I paid for something! I guess I imediately think there is a judgement behind the question. When people ask me how much I've paid for the Vespa I avoid the answer with all kinds of fuel economy, fun to ride, fuel emissions kind of answers.

How much would I have paid for this helmet? Zero. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be happy with your purchase.

I must agree that these aren't the "best" or "safest" helmet, but if you want the convenience of storing 2 helmets in the scooter, they are the only "jet" type helmet that will fit under the GT seat.

Been echoed by others......when you can upgrade check out: shoei J Wing And or Shoei Full face helmets. I started with the vespa helmet but didn't feel safe at all. Fine for "around the block". But once you try a full face or 3/4 (with a shield) you'll see and feel the difference and see the dramatic increased safety. How much is your brain worth protecting? Every penny...quality in this case is measured in dollars.

Fitting ANYTHING under the seat wouldn't be a problem if Piaggio would install TWO helmet hooks on the seat instead of just one. They used to have that on the P200. What's the deal?

Helmet Hair...
Personally, I wouldn't buy a used helmet, for pretty much the same reason I wouldn't buy used underwear... I don't know where it's been! Or maybe I do, and just don't want to think about it. How do you know the previous owner's dog hasn't peed in it, or their cat used it as a litterbox? Or that it hasn't been used as a hockey puck?

No... never used! New or nothing...
