If you really like the helmet, and are happy with the price, then enjoy!! Those helmets are quite expensive if you get one at a Vespa boutique.. |

Well, the original poster asked if he got a good deal. I think the consensus was; open face helmets aren't safe, but at least I said it wasn't a good deal. Well me and a few others. What was your question?
Edit: Just read it all over again. You asked why these threads bring out the worst in people. Answered that; this thread isn't that bad, it could be worse. |

So you already bought one, and you want to know if the helmet price is a good deal? You've really got the cart before the horse.
Do you like the helmet? Are you happy with what you paid for it? |

It's a snug fit and you'll have to push down on the seat some at first, but eventually the helmets will store very easily this way. IIRC, this storage method is featured in a photo in the Granturismo factory brochure. |

I'd never buy a used helmet. Who knows what kind of abuse it has seen...
But I'd also never buy less than a full face helmet too. |

But I dont really want to go down that well worn path. |

There have been a lot of funny things on this thread!
But the most ? funny vs wacky was the poster who mentioned that he only wears a full face for safety then went on to say he'd had his for 10 years. Did I really read that? 10 years is way over the manufacturer's recommendation and who knows what degree of material degradation has occurred. Just thought I'd throw in a comment before this thread is abruptly terminated |

This is really kind of a worthless thread. Wearing some kind of helmet is Usually better than not wearing one. Whether its used or not. Because all of us who Do wear helmets are wearing used ones and I'd bet a good percentage of us have bumped our helmets on something at one time or another so its highly likely those helemts may sustain some damage we're not even aware of. You know, like your wife picking your helmet up off the floor after bumping it and not telling you. Or your kids.
Guy who started this thread: Sounds like you're happy so I'm happy for ya. And you're wearing some type of helmet so I guess that's good too. Make sure you secure that chin strap nice and tight. Roadbum |

We cleared those out new for $75.
Here's a picture of my accident. I was doing 40mph down a business district street. This lady pulled out right in front of me, and I went face first in to the side of her car at about 30-35mph. I'm usually not one to preach, but this is a good reminder for myself and everyone else who thinks that "scooter helmets" are fine on scooters because they don't go that fast, and "motorcycle helmets" are for motorcycles. I was wearing a full face in this crash, and eternally grateful that I was. I did not go over the car, but straight into the side of it. These dents are from my body. |

Good as new! But that's what you expect when you buy top of the line Hammer to fall? If you have anything TECHNICAL to say, i will listen. Anywhoo thanks for the laugh. jimh wrote: Mate! This helmet will not protect your cupcake hole There is a recent post on here, please read it.... So, my suggestion is buy a full face helmet. The only time i ride with an open face is around town (Sometimes). The real question is "what is yer heed wurth man?" I still use my 10 year old Arai, worth every dollar i spent. If it's the Vespa thingy Get a TATTOO Goodluck mate. Cheers (this is my first comment on a comment so I hope this goes as it should, hoping this ends up in the same thread as the original post) |

You might consider reposting this in a new thread. I hate to continue this one by posting in it but I wanted to say I'm glad you're OK. 30 MPH might not seem like much...unless it's your face going into the side of a car. Thanks for the full-face reminder. Kevin |

well we have a few left over brand new ones were selling for pretty much cost $125. i think there's two imperial blue ones that have been sitting on our clearance shelf for way over a year now. we can't even give them away. they fit really weird too. they sit way too high on your head and leave your forehead exposed.

One of my local dealer was tryin to shift a load about 6 months ago, £35 which is about $70. If you are happy stay happy and disregard other comments.
PS falllin off a scoot at 70mph does not feel a hell of a lot different from falling off a motorcycle at 70mph.... |

It's actually kind of funny. Every helmet thread here eventually merges, whether accidentally or on purpose, with all other helmet threads to the point where if you join in by 1/2 way through the second page you wouldn't be able to tell which thread you're reading. It doesn't matter what the initial question was, they all end up in the same place, with the same pics, warnings and arguments.
I vote that every time the scraped-up full face helmet pic appears it's time to close the thread. |
