there she is, a couple of hours old.

my first vespa.

first posting as well.

hello everyone, i'm jh.

i just have a few questions that i couldn't find answers to yet.

maybe someone here would be nice enough to help me out:

1) in the manual it says my new vespa lxv should take unleaded 95 gas, is the highest test available ok to refuel with?

2) the back chrome fold down rack, how do you get it to stay folded down?

3) the dash turn signal light doesn't work - should the turn signal light that is on the dash display - blink alog with the turn signals?

thanks if you have time to help a new vespa owner.

took it out and around a little this afternoon,

the sunset was amazing, cruising on the vespa

& i wont be able to sleep tonight,

knowing its parked in my garage...

excited,

jh.

Welcome to MV. Where do you be.
Questions:
1. Run high test what ever that is where you are
2. Don't know
3. Yes it should blink. Make the dealer fix it

Shouldn't be hard but I'd make them do it.

Makes you wonder about the Pre-Delivery Sheet. It should be in the documentation. I would bet there is a section covering dash lights being checked.

Welcome to the tribe. There should be a black plastic C-shaped clip that you clip the articulating part of the rack to the fixed part of the rack to hold it down. If you didn't get one, ask the dealer about it when he/she is fixing your blinky light.
Alternately, San Jose Vespa sells a metal replacement clip here (the plastic clip is in the background of the photo of Part No. CNC002)

Welcome.
1. Highest octane, yes.
2. If you don't want it up; zip ties.
3. Make the dealer fix it.
Like Nightwing said; there should be a check off list to make sure these things work. That still doesn't help though.
Take advantage of your warranty at all times.
Check your oil frequently.
Get yourself a tire pressure gauge and use it.

Don't ride that thing like you stole it, but ride it like a sophisticated hamburger afficionado.
And of course, in the spirit of MV, when in doubt, always post pictures.

Answer to number 2
2.
Purchase a really cool device that keep the rack down from Vespa San Jose. Ask for Bosco and explain what you want. You can get them in Black also.

Correction...the plastic thingy does not come with the LXV, only the GTS does--I found that out when we picked up my wife's new LXV tonight...so get the SJ Vespa one.

Congrats! I have exactly the same Vespa! Up to 32 miles so far.

I put a red plastic milk crate on the back of mine, so just left the rack folded up. I was thinking of getting a nicer setup, such as a leather bag, but an idiot driver tapped the back of the Vespa at a red light the first day I rode it home from work (Monday). She hit the crate, not the actual scooter, so I'm thinking that was $10 well spent.

Was your scooter running when you tried the turn signals? My Vespa has to be running for the signals to work.

Welcome and congrats!

1. Run the highest grade you can get. Do not fill from a gas station that runs diesel through the same pipe as the unleaded. use gas-only fillers.

2. I use a zip tie.

3. yes the light should blink. Make sure you are completely pressing the lever so it can light up. if it still doesn't work, make the dealer fix it. it's a warranty issue.
