Modern Vespa

Evening all, picked up my very first Vespa 9 days ago - a shiney new black GTS 125 and have been whizzing around London on it ever since and loving it!

However today some **** in the scooter bay outside my office decided to dump his Harley onto it cuasing the front guard to smash and cause damage to the left side of the bike. Luckily he left his details with the security guard and agreed to pay all costs (or I'd press charges for damage) - anyone any idea what costs this guy is facing? Am getting it picked up by the breakdown people tomorrow morning and am currently rather sad about it!

Oh and thanks for all the great advice I have picked up on these forums while i have been lurking the past week!!

Not sure, sounds 'spensive though.

I think he is paying up as he parks there everyday and has seen my bike there last week too....and the fact the security at his own office has him on CCTV doing it!

Just want to get the bike back on the road...

Sorry to hear about the damage. A rough estimate of the fender replacement and install $200-300 (parts and labor). Not certain about the other damage---would need to see. And there's the question whether your front fork was damaged. Check to see that the front wheel and steering is "in tact' and okay. best of luck.....

So sorry to hear about the damage to your scooter, that really sucks anytime but even more so with a brand new scooter. I hope you can get it fixed and be back on the road quickly.

Rough luck about the accident - but congrats on the scooter! Regardless of the situation, it is refreshing to learn of someone taking responsibility for their actions.

What is a Harley rider doing in Chelsea? I stayed there for about 4 days late last year and did not want to come home. Sorry to hear about your scoot.

Cheers for the replies guys - i have a piccie or 2 on my camera phone so will post them when i get home after the Arsenal game tonight (been a fan ever since I was six despite living in sw london!)

The recovery guys have picked it up and taken it to the dealership so I await the damage report...on second inspection it might just be the plastic panels that are damaged so might not be too bad (as well as the shattered front mud guard that looks to have taken the majority of the impact....)

Can't wait to get the bike back and get riding again, will post some pics of the repaired GTS as soon as they're done!
