I tried awhile back. still got the tool you can borrow and a small frame legshield piece I didn't use but now might that i have a 50 special.
I never uploaded the video but I think I may have taken one. I can try and get it to you if you want but it's pretty straight forward once you get the hang of it. Just go slow and use a lot of tape to prevent scratches. The video that was posted on there of the italians doing it is gone it seems and I think that had a lot of useful information.

here's the post:
Legshield trim crimp tool

In case I don't make it back though,

Started at the top underneath the handlebars as this would be the hardest area to see if I messed up. first you just crimp it into place with a squeeze. then you start gently crimping it every little bit until it's on there basically. then you gently massage the crimper down and roll it back and forth to evenly distribute the crimp and make it look good.

Are you looking for "original style" or original? there's a huge difference in price and quality.

There are also about fifty different styles and shapes depending on model.

There's a cool thread in here somewhere that lists all the stamp numbers for most of the models. Someone might be able to bring it up.

The reproduction stuff is pretty worthless as it fits poorly and tends to rust quickly. The old original stuff is either good quality stainless steel or chrome over brass. Nothing beats original, especially with legshield trims.

The biggest problem I have found when fitting new legshield trims, are the legshields themselves. If your Vespa has never been in an accident, then no problem. But if the legshield was damaged, you have to make sure of the following before you fit a new trim: put a steel ruler (or something straight) on the body where the trim must go. The outside edge of the groove should be in line with the rest of the legshield. If not, hammer it in the correct shape and then bend it until it gives you a straight line.

If you don't do this, the outside groove is either too wide open or too narrow. If too narrow, or bent too much inwards, the crimping tool does not work.
