...OK, not a bike straight out from the box, but obviously a capable bike all the same!

Looking at the pic showing the high ground clearance of this particular bike, it's hard to say there's much difference to any ADV bike albeit the transmission...

It is hardly a scooter.

Basically a Honda NC700X DCT without the trunk.

If it was available in the US I would seriously consider it.
I have no love for my NC700 DCT at all; it just goes faster than my MP3.

Same for me. Surely it'll be available here at some point.

I never liked my NC700X.

Too big and bulky for me with the world's most uncomfortable seat.

Ended up replacing it with a Yamaha Xmax.

It is better for me in every way.

I have already ridden it almost as much in nine months as I rode the Honda in four years.

As I said in Steve Wlliams prose when he used a BMW G310R for a day, a motorcycle doesn't have to be gigantic to be useful. An NC 700X weighs in at 496 pounds while a 300cc XMax weighs a scant 397. It makes sense when you figure in an extra cylinder and gearbox on the Honda, not to mention the bulk required to hold twice as much engine and suspension. My go-to ride these days is a 250 Nighthawk at 340 pounds and the ability to do 70 mph all day if required. Both the 750 Kawasaki and Helix clone are a load to get out of the garage. I always smirk when I read how Burgman 650 owners describe their scooters as easy to handle. At 600 pounds they weigh more than a Sportster.

By day's end Steve was glad to be back on the Vespa but he had a better appreciation for a small bike than he did for giant Triumphs he had ridden in the past.

There's a lot more to how well a scooter or motorcycle handles than how much it weighs. The Burgman has a much lower center of gravity than a Sportster, and in general, Scooters have a lower center of gravity than motorcycles. If you're comparing a lot of cheap bikes to a lot of cheap scooters, you won't get it, because cheap doesn't mean designed to handle well. If you ever ride a bike that really handles well, on roads that test a bike's handling and performance, you will understand what I'm talking about.

I never said I liked the Xmax more than the three Vespa GTs in the garage (only two running at the moment)

I am out riding the beautiful Razzo this morning.

The Xmax is a wonderful scooter but for most rides, the Vespas are even better.

First off, the topic was about moving weight. A 650 Burgman weighs 600 pounds no matter how you slice it. Dragging 600 pounds out of a garage is still 600 pounds.

I have owned numerous bikes that handle well. My 750 Kawasaki for one. My W650 was a decent handling bike for what it was. Center of gravity is only one determining factor in handling. That center of gravity works against a Burgman in its highway stability, even though it works in urban settings. A passing truck will move it around much more than a motorcycle. Even a 340 pound Nighthawk.

You 'lecture' us that the topic is about moving weight, then talk about dragging it out of the garage. (Well, technically it is moving as you drag it but not what we're talking about)

Yes, like you say, a low CG is only one factor in handling, but it's a BIG factor.

Take a touring BMW boxer and compare it against a touring Harley of equal size and weight and the BMW will run rings around the Harley if the rider has any meaningful experience. The Harley will feel heavier and slower. And yes, I've personally owned both and also ridden both on the police force.
