Modern Vespa

I just bought a very run down 2009 Vespa GTS 250 with 2000 miles on it that was crashed several times and left out to rust in the rain for many years. Slowly have been replacing parts as I tackle the major and not so major maintenance items. I have been buying most of my replacement parts from scooterwest or ebay and was wondering what other places (sites) that other Vespa enthusiast's purchase from?

Who is your local/closest Piaggio dealership? Do some business with them, help keep them in business too, get to know them a bit, help them stay in business and then they will be there when you really need them.

Go local if you can. Otherwise AF1 or scooterwest have been good to us.

Thanks, I'll take a look at S.I.P. - Vespa Arlington Virgina is the closest, but actually haven't had much luck with them. I went in to look at scooters before I bought used and the sales lady was really aggressive and got defensive when I asked why the additional fees were so high (shipping, doc, prep were over $1,400 extra). I inquired if they had used and responded that I"ll never find a used Vespa in the area. Instead went to Facebook marketplace and bought used the next day. Later, I got the mp3 13 inch rim upgrade and tires in the mail, went in to get them mounted and balanced from Vespa Arlington and said since I didn't buy directly from them they don't do outside work like that. Ended up buying the tools and balancer from amazon and watched YouTube to do it.

Thanks for the AF1 tip, they have parts diagrams online which will make getting the missing or odd pieces easier to find since I can get a part number now.

EDIT: i cant believe the dealership treated you like that and refused to work on your bike because you had parts from an outside source....do all vespa dealerships do that?

Yea, I am in Ashburn and get my parts the next day most times.

That's a tough one. A lot of dealers would be concerned about liability issues if they take on that job. That might be why they shot you down.

Fair enough there are many bike shops like that where I live. One notoriously famous for just that.
