So still having engine issues with the latest one being that the engine stalls when I select first gear and that's when the clutch is pulled in! It doesn't jump forward just dies as soon as it goes into first!

Vespa VBB 177cc pinasco kitted.

Could it be the clutch cable just needs tightening?

Clutch adjustment or clutch.

Hello. Try this. With engine off roll forward and hold the clutch lever in, engage first gear and see if the clutch frees up after a couple of feet. A downhill slope makes this easier to do.

If my scooter has been left overnight or longer I do the above. The clutch always sticks but after doing this no more problems for the rest of the day. I assume it's because the oil is thick and sticky. I use the straight SAE 50 as sold in every scooter shop.

Tried the above and It seems ok - no sticky as far as I can tell.

Also checked the adjustment and it seems fine - right up against the arm and when pulling in the clutch it seems to be moving the arm easily and with good travel

While the engine is running in neutral, try to push back. Then pull the clutch and put it in first and push back. Sometimes it can feel like there's no difference between neutral and clutch in when stationary, but you can feel the clutch very slightly engaged when actually pushing backwards.
