Hi, has anyone tried to remove the warning stickers from a Vespa with Matte Paint. I was thinking about using a blow dryer but I am hesitant because probably to use googone to take the sticky residue will mess up the matte the paint. Has anyone done it?
Thank you in advance!

I usually remove most of the ridiculous warning stickers from my scooters. I find that they generally come cleanly off a new scooter when softened with a hair dryer. Seems like it is only older stickers which leave a residue behind when removed.

I'll stick my neck out on this one. I disliked the battery warning sticker on my new 2018 GTS.
To be clear, I am an experienced auto body guy who's done much paint work and crash repairs, etc.. I know well how to remove emblems, decals etc. and have done so many times from high end Euro cars I worked on.
Having said that, I proceeded to remove that decal using a plastic razor blade and it was stuck really well and coming apart in tiny pieces. So-I got out my heat gun (not a HF junky heat gun) and proceeded to use the low setting to remove most of the rest of that decal. My practice is to place my hand in the heated air flow so that any air beyond my skins tolerance forces me to remove the heat source.
In spite of that technique, the paint got soft fast and I ended up with a few dinks in the white paint and wishing I'd left well enough alone.
I've been hoping www.scooterpartsco.com would get in some battery warning decals to cover the buggered up spots and go back to the ugly decal but seems to be the part from neverlandia?
My suggestion is be real careful and consider leaving it alone!

Thank you both, will listen to the professional and leave them alone specially beacuse the opaque/matte paint is so freaking delicate.

Heat gun never!
Hair dryer works just fine. Gets no hotter than a scooter parked in the sun in Spain.

Never had matte paint. I've used WD40. Proceed at your own risk.

Re matt paint: nearly did not buy my Liberty because the Piaggio web site photos 2 yrs ago of the new Liberty were of the red/plum? matt painted scooter. I dislike matt finishes (never came to love my new Burgman because of this )
Went to dealer, took lid off shipping crate -- Wow! Gloss Red!! "I'll have this one, please!"
Glad I found it!
What kinda fun is it to polish a matt scooter!! They look half painted to me. Sad trend. But, to each his own.

I also dislike matte finishes. I really wanted a GTV and The dealer never sold them in Guatemala. Las year they imported a couple of GTV Sei Giorni but they came in green matte, so I bought one.

When I removed the L sticker from the front of my matte yellow vespa I used a tiny bit of acetone (nail polish remover) to get the stubborn bits of stick off after peeling off the sticker and cleaning with warm water and muc-off. I've also used it to remove rubber marks from boots. I don't think you're supposed to use anything like WD40 on matte.

Is your 2018 GTS a matte or a gloss finish? Also, you might try your Vespa dealer for the warning label. Often they are in the parts book and anything for a 2018 should be available from Piaggio. Look in the back of the factory parts book or fiche.

I've known the parts # from the get go but was trying to get in on another more important part so the S/H wasn't more than the decal, plus I don't live near nor travel near a dealer much.
I'll just touch again with a closer match paint it up and forget the dings.

I live near Iron Pony here in Columbus and they are a Vespa dealer, along with about 15 other brands. If you want to PM the part number I don't mind ordering it the next time I am there and I can put it in the mail to you. Just let me know.

Thanks a bunch!
I'm just gonna stick with a minor touch up as mine was blown over in a high wind off the CS and I'll have a few tiny spots anyway after the paintless guy is done.

Ok, so I used a hair dryer and googone (just one drop in a damp cloth).
Applied medium heat for like 30 seconds and removed both stickers, then the damp cloth with the drop of googone and elbow grease, then with my nail carefully took of the remains and a last time with the damp cloth with googone. Once there was no longer sticky material, finished cleaning with wet clean cloth and then a dry one, it seems it came out fine.
The two stickers are now gone! Thank you guys!

So ValVitola, now that we have all worried about stickers/matte paint you are going to use that great wad of clanking metal key ring which will bash up that unrepairable paint in the first 1000 miles? Use the key bare with no ring and save yourself the agony. Been there, done that.

Well, I picked up my 2023 GTS Supertech in Matt blue, and those stickers are absolutely killing me. So I'm glad the search functions work that are now in the forum because a four year old post got me the exact answers I needed. Hairdryer, a little goo gone and then followed up with a touch of Windex on the windshield (stickers still shown in the photo)
