This shifter broke a few months ago. I installed a replacement from SIP, but it's kind of shit. Since it's a unique part (90ss, shortened inner length) I asked V oodoo if he could fix it. Well, duh.

It was a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Voodoo fitted an inner tube to splint the pieces back together. Friction fit with 2 welds to be sure.

Nice work guys!! Love to see parts being saved, instead of being tossed and replaced.

It was an adventure into what is possible with a little imagination and effort. Well worth it to resuscitate such a scarce part that's right up front on the bike, I agree that the SIP part is shoddy compared to the original.

For those with a similar problem, a piece of 1/2" water pipe is just slightly too big but if you skim down the OD a bit, you can get a nice press fit on the stock shifter tube ID. We had no lathe available so tack welded a bolt into the end of the 4" length of pipe and chucked it in a drill, then used the angle grinder to grind off the necessary amount sneaking up on a good fit. A plug weld on both sides to seal the deal then file smooth for a good fit in the headset. The pipe also provided perfect alignment as the original weld repair was a bit crooked.

Only thing missing in this post is a pic of that SS90, the star of the show!

Absolutely brilliant!! Repair-engineering at its finest using original (not readily available) parts.
Kudos!!!
