Hi all. Hope everyone's enjoying the summer so far and getting in a lot of good riding.

Simple question -- I searched the boards first, but seemed only turned up lots of good general battery-related discussion. But what I'm looking for are some straightforward recommendations on a replacement battery for my 09 LX150 -- brank, size, cc amps.

The one I have works, but I have to charge it after every two rides. Had it checked a year ago, and the store said it was still good, but I went through a similar issue with my SUV, and I think that while the battery tests as "good," it's not taking and holding a deep charge, due to age. So while it starts up all charged up, it isn't recharging fully from riding.

Thanks!

Get a sealed YTX12bs battery. That is now the stock spec (since mid-2007), and it is the best battery that will fit the space available. It will require a very inexpensive plastic tray that is widely available, but it is a much better and longer-lasting battery than what was provided as original equipment on the earlier LXs.

Here are some that will work with the LX150:

Deka ETX 12
Powersonic PS-PTX 12-BS
Motobatt YTX12BS
YUASA YTX-12-BS

Recharging a battery take about 20 minutes after start up on a good condition battery, could take longer on a slow charge Vespa.
Do you ride lots of short trips?

Most of my trips are short, yes. But even when I ride for a few hours, the battery gets depleted.

Then test your charging system!

You need to find ~20V AC between any pair combination of the three stator o/p wires, and >13.5V DC (and eventually ~14.4V) across the battery when the engine running at 3000 rpm or so.
