2006 GT200 - stiff steering

I am looking at purchasing a 2006 GT200. It is in pristine condition (4k miles) but the steering feels heavy/stiff. It is still smooth, no vibration that I have noticed. Checked tire pressure an they were fine. Any ideas? Any other issues on this model I should know about?

It's likely that the steering stem bearings have never been serviced. The front fork should be disassembled, bearings removed and cleaned or replaced, bearing races cleaned or replaced, and then the whole thing should be reassembled.

Here is a Wiki article that explains a bit about it. It seems to only cover servicing the top bearing though. You definitely need to service the bottom bearing too. It takes the majority of the punishment.
