I had an issue last Saturday. While driving, my breaks engaged on their own, and did not release.

At first the dealership thought I was nuts.

Today they got an email from Piaggio about an issue with the foot pedal being adjusted incorrectly leading to it breaking on its own.

I will ask for the recall information tomorrow. They called me at work and I did not have time to get full details.

Just wanted to let the group know.

Damn, I hate that foot pedal brake! But I thought the only problem was that it is in the way of my right foot. This is really concerning. I'll check with the dealer tomorrow.

Thanks, Finn.

If I had a new MP3 with the footbrake I would with out a doubt remove it.

I asked the dealer to do just that. He wouldn't. I'm not going to try to do it myself, so I've just gotten used to it being there.

I can't see how I would use it. If my foot is on it for braking, what happens as I come to a stop? I would only be able to put my left foot down unless I switch to the hand brakes. So why not just use the hand brakes? (I do) It also involves lifting the right foot quite a bit, which is just awkward.

Obviously it only exists so that Euro riders can get around the lengthy licensing process. If it had any real rationale, why wouldn't it be on the BVs?

Bike Repaired

It needed a FREE PLAY adjustment on the foot pedal.

The way it was set up when the bike got hot, the foot pedal would engage the break. The day it happened to me I was in 100 degree heat.

why can't you just unbolt the brake brake arm?

I haven't even looked at it and I've already gotten used to it being there.

I guess I don't have the defect either, as I've already ridden in 106 degree heat.

just the pedal and bracket would be the easiest and quickest. no real need to do the master cylinder and mess about with timing the lines back together and fuss about bleeding the system.

Thanks, all for the info and comments on the brake. I was up in the air between a 2019 demo and a really good deal/low miles '17. Goin' to join the three wheel world with the '17.
