As an aside, it is a VERY BAD idea to adhere extraneous things to your helmet like faux mohawks (fauxhawks), military spikes, or any other goofy apparatus. In an impact these things can do two very bad things:
1) In the case of the fauxhawk, the change in surface friction level can cause the helmet to snag in a slide situation, whereby your head, neck and spine can be violently and suddenly be jerked, making a bad situation worse.
2) Other extremeties like spikes and such can become penetration hazards that have the potential of pushing through the helmet in an impact and, well, then penetrating the skull. The idea of a helmet is that it helps to disburse the impact over a wide area...a spike can pointload the impact, concentrating it in one area, rather than spreading it out. Bad, bad, bad.
Interesting point here. My helmet (Shoei FF) has stock extraneous things on it, the most prominent being a little wing like thing on the back which I suppose is to keep my head from flying off at full scooter speeds. I presume they will bust off in a crash.

Yep, the stuff designed into helmets is made to breakaway.

That's a pretty helmet!

Do you know that the tape glue may reduce the strength of your helmet?
So I've heard, but I can't help but think this is some sort of biker urban myth.
The final finish on most motorcycle helmets is a clearcoat paint. The adhesive would have to "eat" thru the clearcoat before degrading the structural integrity of the helmet shell.

Just paint a face on the rear of the helmet. The guy following too closely will go nuts.

SOLAS Tape
I added some SOLAS tape to my helmet for added visibility. I cut two strips to echo the shape of my Vespa's cowls, and slapped them on the sides, and put a nice big oval piece on the back. On my white helmet, it's very unobtrusive in daylight but stands out pretty well after dark.

Helmet Mods
If you look closely, you can see the squishy foam flower stickers I put over my helmet Also, the helmet was originally white, but I used blue car spray paint I bought at the flea market to freshen it up some

Squishy foam stickers, while they revoke the Snell approval, make an impact a lot less impactful. You look hot in it.

If you want to use your FULL creative expression, most sign shops can make full-color vinyl stickers and/or cut reflective vinyl from your computer designs. The cost? approx. $25-35! Adobe Illustrator logos or Photoshop images will work best.

To prove it, I'll post some images of my helmet with white, ScotchLite reflective vinyl logos applied. Stay tuned ...

Unpossible. 99.9% of the designs from the factory are ugly as sin. Razz emoticon

Reflective tape
Aerostitch Riderwearhouse makes some very high viz reflective tape that works great. Have had some on my helmet for years and several people have commented that it makes me easier to see.

I don't remember the exact name of the tape but it's in their latest catalog or on the website.

Be safe, have fun.

Turcano Urbano also sells reflectors like this one.

- Safety reflector
- Homologated reflector (ONU/ECE 104)
- Removable and repositionable
- Increase visibility and therefore safety
- Total flexibility allowing reflector to mould itself to contour of the crash helmet (3M ComplyTM Technology)
- Specially formulated solvent free adhesive
- Will not damage lacquer or helmet shell
