Just curious--I bought the LXV about three weeks ago, but no sign of the license plate yet. I assume it arrives in the mail? My new driver's license arrived pretty quickly.

(This is in California, I should probably add.)

Cali DMV sucks.. as we here all know. I have heard that it can realistically take up to 3 months. Some get lucky, but I've had my bike for 7 weeks with no plates yet!

Don't even get me started on the DMV employee who took it upon herself to change our paperwork and register 9 of my customers bikes as MX vehicles.. off road only.. UUGGGGHH.....

The dealer is required to submit your information within a certain amount of time, after which they get fined. If you call DMV, they'd tell you if that has been accomplished at least. My friend didn't get his plates until 7 months after the purchase.

Got mine in within a month from purchase....I think it really depends on how quickly the dealer files paper work.

3 months for a plate? Damn, I thought waiting for over a week was too long.

It would be nice if this were the case, but not so. The LONGEST paperwork has taken to get sent out after date of purchase (for me) is three days. Even so, I've had quite a range of time spans related to me from people. Also, the departments that do motorcycle registrations are more backed up this time of year, as motorcycles/scooters are often seasonal things for a lot of people.

Damn. In Ohio, you walk into a registrar's office, wait through the cue, show your title and SS card, sign the registration, cut a check, and walk out with the plates.

Basically the same in Virginia -- went in with bill of sale, certificate of origin and my DL. Registered and plates in about 2 hours.

In CA it depends if your dealer sends them in electronically or not. When I bought my new truck, I got my plates in 1 week. My scooter, 6 weeks.

1 month after I bought which was 2 almost 3 weeks after the crash
It was SO BITTERSWEET!

First thing I did was throw it on her once I got her back. Now I want the chrome license plate frame and reflectors. The little devil on my shoulder's like "It's only $12 or so" Then I'd want reflective stickers, oh I need a tender...etc...

So you got the title as well. That took me about 4 weeks.

Anyway, I was in no hurry to get mine, I preferred to have my own message on the Vespa.

Bought the bike over the phone on a Thursday with credit card (had been into shops previously to scope out the wares). Gave me VIN on the spot, called insurance with VIN.

Picked up bike that Saturday, plated and insured 8)

I had the VIN on the spot too, but the plate (one plate) and pink slip took longer. I got the pink slip about a week ago.

I bought my bike at my BMW/Piaggio dealership and when I came back the next day to drive it away, I had my plate already on my bike.
