Hi guys, I've owned sport bikes and open class motocross bikes for years and recently got my first scooter. I bought qascooters (Scott) P200 and can't believe the joy I'm getting out of this little machine. My son came over and saw "Phoebe" parked where my crotch rocket used to live and said, who are you and what have you done with my dad?? I know I don't totally get it either. I think it's that I've truly missed having a machine that needs me. I love turning on the fuel, pulling out the choke and giving her a kick (no fuel injection or electric start here) then- wing ding ding ding, oh baby! The smell of burning two stroke oil oh how I've missed that. I like the fact that she needs me to have her in the right gear and the mechanical feel as I shift. She runs great but I just can't leave things alone so I'm replacing 20/20 with a 24/24 and putting a Sip Road 2 exhaust on after the weather changes. Can't stand the thought of having her down for a minute during the short Oregon summer. This forum has been an awesome resource and I'm sure Scott didn't know he was signing a lifetime tech/support contract when he signed the title over 😄. We've texted scooter talk most every day. It's been great!

Having an old Vespa is therapeutically addictive isn't it? I never got into the sport bike thing (i did do 4 years of track racing on my Vespa though), but i do race a few enduros and desert races every year on my KTMs. I also like to trail ride at least once a month. As much as i love the whole dirt bike thing that i do, all my Vespas bring me just as much joy (if not more) than all of my other two wheeled bikes! Get out and enjoy the 3 months of nice riding weather we have in the Pac NW Scootnewb!

Yeah I really miss my old 2-stroke machines. Maybe some day down the road I'll add another to the stable but for now all my rides are modern. You should have seen it back in the day when we had the big rallies and there would be large groups of us all on vintage Vespas, Lambrettas and a few Cushmans. The smoke and the smell was insane and we converged on the campground or farmers field.

Yo Chris! Welcome to the forum. My garage is open to you any time my friend. And I probably have a pack of cookies you can munch on too!
I am thoroughly enjoying watching you get more and more jazzed about the shifty scene. You are very similar to me in a lot of respects. It is an absolute pleasure and honor to BS with you about scooters. And I love MJs take "It Begggiiinnnnssssssss!" Hahaha BTW - Your Phobes was a labor of love, and I had a blast getting her back on the road. I'm so glad you're riding the snot out of her. And I can think of a bunch more to do to her when you get bored. A man and his scooter

I know just how you feel. I have had scooters for a long time, including a 1971 VBC that I did not ride much, and 2 modern scooters that I also did not ride much. But I found my current PX150 this spring and I cannot get enough of it. A SIP Road 2 and drilled air filter transformed it, but I have been battling fuel starvation at WOT, loose carb bolts, and other things. With a float chamber spacer from SIP, drilling the main jet supply hole, some safety wire and a pretty good collection of jets and mixers, I have it dialed in well now. I am tinkering with it constantly and that involvement really makes it fun. I have 3 open class motorcycles and find myself riding the Vespa a lot more than the other 3 combined right now.

There sure is something strangely satisfying about actually getting your transport working when you want to get somewhere, and not simply knowing its all going to happen & not even having to think about it.
