Ok, new to the forum, but not to scootering.

Been riding motorcycles for 12 years, picked up a Stella over a year ago, 6 months later picked up a 1980 P200E & brought her back to life (looks runs like new now)

I just sold the Stella & looking to find a modern Vespa to park between my 106HP Triumph Tiger & my 12HP P200E.

I love the GTS 250, but there are better deals on the GT200's out there now. Just how much of a performance difference is there? I have ridden the GTS250, quite pleased with it. I am 6'4" 200lbs, plus the girlfriend rides on the back often (she is about 110lbs) I am not pressed to save a buck by going with the GT vs. the GTS, but if I am not going to notice a good performance increase I would rather go with a used GT200 & spend money on things like a good seat, top case & a nice noisy exhaust (love loud bikes) but if the GTS is going to offer better performance on the open road, ill spend the money!

I am sure somewhere in this forum this topic has been beat to death, but for those who are interested in helping out someone new to all things 4-stroke scooters.. I would so much appreciate the feedback!

Re: GT200 vs. GTS250
My $.02:

You can find (at least here in DC) a used GT200 in nearly perfect condition for $4K or less. It will haul you and your gf around with more than decent performance (I'm 6'2" 195 lbs). I have ridden two up many times, even at highway speeds.

If you are cost conscious, it's a good route to go. Ride 'em both, though. You'll notice a difference. You'll just have to decide what, if anything, that difference is worth to you.

Full disclosure: I own a GT, and I'd buy it again without hesitation.

P.S. - Just noticed you're in DC, too. PM me if you want to test ride my GT sometime if Vespa Washington doesn't have any more.

200 vrs 250
I just bought a new 2007 GT 200 from a dealer for $4,795. And this also includes a free three year warranty! Vespa dealers seem to be having these sales on GT 200's all around the USA now... (At least until the end of Sept anyway.)

Because of EFI and the extra 50 CC's the GTS is said to have faster acceleration than the GT. However their top speeds are, GTS= 74MPH, GT200= 73MPH!
My GT200 rides absolutely fast enough for me, and beats cars at a light, but then I almost never ride 2-up either...
