Many EFI vehicles can render a self diagnosis. My Kymco will flash blinks for codes to system and or part which is faulting. I see that my newish Liberty can blink out info pertaining to the key....but does not seem able to give the owner other info. Apparently a dealer plug-in device is needed.
I thought all modern EFI scooters could pass info to the owner...but not this 2018 Piaggio?
Is this true - or am I not understanding correctly?

All Piaggio machines need the correct Piaggio diagnostic equipment for that model to get all the info out, and to perform some limited tasks. Some homebrew solutions partially succeed. See: DIY Diagnostic tool for injection Vespa's with MIU ECU

This should change soon, with new EU regs requiring all vehicles with ECUs to have some compatible interface - I presume OBDII or whatever is next in the pipeline.

Thank you!
Saved me trying to figure out why I couldn't get my Liberty to talk to me!
