I am going to check out an '03 ET4 for my daughter and wonder if there are any key points to inspect. I did some work on one a few years ago but it was mint and needed little. This one looks great and reads 14K on the clock. My experience is with 60's vintage Vespas and Lambrettas. Thanks.
Having just gotten the same year ET4 back to life here are the things I had problems with:
Petcock leaking.
Kill switch relay as rusted, it sat in the weather most of its life
Front brake hose was clogged and the master cylinder and caliper needed cleaning and new gaskets on the caliper, check the front brake to see if it works.
Water or something in the rear drive case. Check the fluid.
If the body and plastics are in good shape with no dents anything can be rebuilt. Just pay accordingly, I got mine for $400 and it just needed a glove box and the work listed above but everything else was in perfect shape for a 16 year old scooter.
