I am about to change my rear rotor and went online to order some red threadlock, which I assume I will need for the job.

While poking around, I came across orange threadlock. I have never seen this before, but it claims to be as strong as red threadlock yet mechanically removable (no heat needed) like blue threadlock.

Has anyone used this before? Seems like a good option for stronger-than-blue applications like brake parts, but without the trouble / risk of heat release?

Thanks OAD. I was thinking red for reinstallation of the caliper bolts (not the disc bolts), based on greasy's comments here: https://modernvespa.com/forum/post170785#170785

Did you mean blue is enough for the caliper too? Maybe this is a good time for the orange? 8)

I believe he was talking if you take the caliper itself apart like splitting it in half.

Mine didn't have any. Used a blue loctite stick for good measure and prevent galling

Heat gun or propane torch will get the red to release. GM uses Red Loc Tight on crucial fittings..

Permatex High Strength Removable Orange is a hybrid formula that combines the strength of a Permatex Red Threadlocker with the removability of a Permatex Blue Threadlocker. Permatex Orange provides high strength for heavy-duty applications, but unlike Red Threadlocker, it can removed with hand tools and does not require heating to achieve removal. Ideal for high vibration applications such as power sports, heavy equipment, automotive, and industrial applications. With 3X the strength of Blue Threadlocker, Permatex Orange Threadlocker ensures that pieces will not loosen or back out over time.
I'd say go ahead with Orange if you wish.

No, Permatex. Link is in the first post. It seems orange is a new offering from them, and I was curious if anyone had experience with it.

From my experience of doing all my own motorcycle and scooter repair and maintenance, the best thing you can do is throw away all of your Locktite and use anti-seize on everything. You will never strip or bugger a bolt. A Harley Davidson Sportster is one of the most vibrating bikes on the road and I never had a bolt or screw come loose in over 93,000 miles riding it everywhere with anti-seize.
