Rookie mistake, I tightened up my 26/26 carb bolts too much, and now my throttle slide is sticking big time. I remember doing this years ago and having to buy a new carb.
I must have pinched the slide channels. Any remedies ?

I fixed a 24/24 w/ a good quality, sharp fine file. Cut, try & repeat and you should be able to spot the pinch points in the channel near that bolt hole.

I would also check the base of the carb for flat. Chances are you have warped it if you tightened the bolts enough to jam the slide. Remem
ber that a very thin gasket is all that is required under the carb and one that is too thick can ( will) compress and allow the 'ears' to bend down. If the carb base is perfectly flat it should seal just fine and not allow the base to warp. |

Hello.
Some lessons are expensive. Do you want to risk the carb slide jamming open? Take it off, bash it with a hammer to get over it. Buy a new one and use a torque wrench and new gaskets to fit it properly next and every time after. |

smash it if you must
But make that little cut in the carb body, new or old, so this can't happen. Will find in tips n trix later & add link.
Well earned moniker, worrywort and you have a point. If you do such a shitty job smoothing and checking and verifying it works OK, then yes, you will definately and immediately jam the throttle wide open which may not be best for your motor or your nice clean undies. |

All newer SI carburetor have already experienced an improvement, so that the screw head can not act directly on the slide guide. This is indicated by a small undercut. This trick can also be applied to the older carburetor.
