Trimmed the tall OEM windshield down by two inches to see over the shield in the rain. I cut the shield down while it was on the bike using a Dremel and then sanding with a steel file.

1. Marked the cut line with tape (I put tape on both sides).
2. Used the top to recreate the original line.
3. When done I trimmed with a file.
Step 1: mark cut line with tape
Step 1: mark cut line with tape
Step 2: marked curve using top piece
Step 2: marked curve using top piece
Step 3: trim with file
Step 3: trim with file

trimmed the tall 500ie windshield
Dudel,

Is it a lot noisier with the trimmed windscreen? I am tempted to trim mine, but not if the wind hits the top of your helmet and makes a lot of noise, like the medium Faco shield for the GTS does.

Did you really only cut 2 inches off? By the photos, it looks like you trimmed a lot more off. Give us an update on how well it worked!

Please count me in for being curious as to whether the noise level changed any also

I just put my tall Givi screen on today and thinking about a trimming also.

I understand the stock two piece Aprilia shield and the Givi shield are the only ones availalbe???

Or are the Givi and Aprilia shield essentially the same screen?

Vernon, I bought a tall Givi screen for my 500ie. It is totally different from the stock two-piece Aprilia screen. It totally covers the hands and the head. It is very quiet. But you have to look through it and it doesn't give you any cooling in the hot months.
