Hello all! How bout you all meet up for some coffee or drinks or coffee, a ride and post drinks?

Where: Bar Italia in Soho.
When: 3 pm
Why: Meet other Londonites and fanboys/fangirls

We can take a ride to Hampstead (follow the leader) and grab a refreshment. The route then:

Take the first left after leaving Bar Italia, then turn left at the "T" junction. Follow the Road (Across Oxford St, across Euston Rd, through Camden Town, Across Adelaide Rd through Belsize Park and into Hampstead, Turn Right at the lights at the Underground station, follow the Road (Spaniards Road) over the top of Hampstead Heath and at the narrowing of the road pull left into the Spanjards Inn Pub carpark) where we will have a drink. And get to meet San Jose's one and only..... Caligurl!

If you can't make 6pm, then try to join us at 7.30pm at the Spaniards Inn:

Whoo hoo, Bar Italia is two minutes from where I work! How could I not be there?

Ride is weather permitting and group permitting. Not sure how many have you have done group rides. Probably not the best to have your first in the dark and lost ...

Can you actually park outside bar italia? Frith street is pretty narrow.

PS: Group riding in the UK will be fine, just ride as a group and as if you sort of own the road. There are not too many nutters with guns here.

Parking on the yellows at that time is usually OK, as long as we are there en mass and stnad by the scoots, if they get uppity, then we can, as Caligul stated, zoom around to Soho Sq, but that shouldn't be necessary. I have never had a problem, and it is quite acceptable to put a handkerchief overy your numberplate, in which case the can't do anything .

Riding together should be fine, If necessary we will impliment a drop off rotation system which works as follows:

Everybody rides in single file

There is a leader and a rear marker, both wearing a high visibility yellow or orange vest

If you are riding behind the leader, and he/she point to a place to stop, you stop and direct the following riders in the direction the leader went.

When the rear marker approaches, all you do is ride off infront of him after the whole pack has passed (hopefully in the right direction)

The leader drops off the rider behind him/her at points where the groupe may be split up, hence ensuring everyone is heading in the right direction.

What it results in is everybody (except the leader and rear marker) rotating riding possition in the pack and hopefully nobody gets lost.

This system works best with 10 or more riders, any less and it is not worth doing, as I am sure you have witnessed, you could be among upto 20 riders and any one set of lights in any big city, which I think is COOL!

I will bring a yellow and orang hivi vest and be the leader. I will appoint a rear marker on the day.

I'm afraid I have to attend a meeting in Greeenford from 6.00pm till possibly 10.00pm that night.

If I can escape early I'll drive up to the Spaniards Inn for a drink.

6 is a bit too early for me but i'll try to make it to the spaniard's inn for a wee drink - teaching early friday morning so i'll have to control myself. a lot.

all bets are off if it's pissing rain or gale-force winds. riding down to vauxhall at 7:30 this morning with rain falling in sheets and bits of trees flying off into the road was not a whole lot of fun.

can somebody post or pm me a contact number just in case you decide to go somewhere else? might also be an idea for somebody to wear their MV t-shirt so we know who we're looking for

hey gang i don't think i can make it thursday night - i'll be at work until at least half 6 and then i've got a load of krap to sort out for an early morning lecture on friday how many of us can actually make it? mightn't it be worth rescheduling?

Hmm. I second genie. I say we reschedule the meetup and reschedule the ride properly for a weekend (more could come out). Or, whoever wants to go tomorrow, can still go. But there shall be something in the near future/next week.

600 miles in one day is abit too much, idd probably book a travel inn on the way back.

this is a fabulous idea, well done for promoting it but unfortunately my ET and GT are off the road at the moment

winter seems to have come early too i would be so up for meeting up and taking over Firth St but not this time...

Weekends are good too- more time and daylight (gets dark early now).

I would still offer the Ace Cafe as a start or end point too, but will go with the flow! Could do a Bar Italia to Ace route.

Saturday might be an option for me this weekend.

saturday at 3 works for me, so does bar italia or ace cafe. weather forecast is a bit pants, but we can play it by ear. i'd prefer bar italia - if it's pissing rain out it's nice to have a bottomless supply of good coffee close at hand

i'm sure one of the london vespateers would be happy to put you up for the night! we've got a spare room at ours which you're welcome to use, although i'd feel a bit nervous about parking your beautiful scoot in my dodgy neighbourhood. we'd have to cover it with a dirty great tarp to keep the local hoodies at bay. does anybody else have some spare bed/floor space?

the M1 joins london around Watford which is near my work, so i might be able to meet you. i could give you directions to get a bit further into london, it's not all that hard ... in the meantime, why don't you pm kam, or charlesm, or oscarhotel, or maybe dougl65, they might be able to meet you too. you could end up with a welcoming committee!

no ride for me on saturday i'm afraid. betty has started leaking oil from the bottom of the transmission cover and unless somebody tells me it's nothing to worry about she's going straight to the doctor's tomorrow morning.

Suitscoot, I could meet you en route, maybe where the M1 meets the North Circular Road - If you go right down to the very end of the M1 you get to a roundabout. Go straight over onto the A5 heading into London. I could meet you there and then it's half an hour into Soho from there.
