Hi Guys,

After seeing the hate on here about stolen sccoters , I thought it was appropriate. Razz emoticon

My wifes got a Primavera 50 2014 model. The other week the seat lock went, I should of gone on here to see the opening trick but didn't find it at the time. I told her to take it into the dealer 2 weeks before but didn't and was stressing the f out the night she ran out of petrol.

I ended up drilling out the lock, removing the barrel and then pulling on the cable which worked in the end.

I went back to the dealer and was told I need a brand new seat at first then I showed him the diagrams and ordered a new barrel, cable and keys. There is still a small rotating mechanism that's still missing that I have see online to complete the job.
Whenever I look for a lock installation/ removal online I get nothing and instead just other models that I can see where the lock can be accessed and things can be reached

I thought the center part of the underside of the seat can be removed but doesn't seem to be the case.

Has anyone fixed on of these seat locks before if so any pointers would be great

Cheers.

see Pic attached , thanks

Two is plenty, three to be on the safe side.

Good luck getting it back to the dealer and fixed!

Just about.

Then you find out it's expensive and difficult to replace. Then you decide you might as well try an adhesive. Then you learn it's made of Polypropylene. Then you learn Polypropylene is all-but-impossible to glue. Then you scour suppliers to find the one specialty structural adhesive around that'll work (3M 8010). Then you end up with this...

Yep, one to steer (me), two to lift (not me). Laughing emoticon

Next time call a lock smith to pick the lock, will be cheaper and easier.

The Problem is that when you turned the key, the barrel would rotate but nothing would happen. To me it looked like the cable has snapped so getting a lock smith wouldn't really solve the problem.

If anyone has taken a seat apart it would be good to know how.

Cheers

If the steering head was turned straight one person could roll it in the van with a proper ramp. I am 75, my wife 70 and we load a GTS easily in a 4x4 truck thats got a higher bed than most vans. With a ramp.

A good! locksmith can deal with a variety of problems such as you suggest.

I'd suggest using a ram instead of lifting.

Rams can get moody, specially if they sniff an ewe (a ewe?). Also possible body damage if ram is too frisky.

THREE ppl better than 2, or a ramp could be useful, then possible w/ 1, but best w/ 2

Based on a lot of experience AND loading a scooter into a HumVee THIS very MORNING, and we were three, 2 each side of the motor & me at the front. No plastic fender, but sharp edged steel handled w/ care, Anyway no ramp available there and no problem getting the Vespa loaded & secured.

I got nice pics I'll soon post somewhere, maybe here. A total fun morning, sunny day, open doorless HumVee & a 'new' '68 Vespa Super 125 w/ one kick start motor lashed down in back w/ ppl all gawking at our load and our crew. 8)
