researched
Once it's done I can rush a lot if I want, the old motor made only 5.3 HP and this 5 port reed valved 150cc LML is supposed to make 8, but now has a genuine Sito plus upgrade muffler!
So, probably 3 or 4 more at least?
ROFL emoticon so that's a no then?

first ride
With no lites, switch(including kill switch), horn, speedo, cowls, front brakes(eek!) or even much gas and wires hanging out the headlite hole . Oh and no helmet, oops! Good tires, though. But just up the hill to get the mail in zero traffic and YOLO. A break in the weather earlier but not when wifey got home and we could have got a nice rolling shot. Cold drizzle, no thanks.

Sorry.

But it ran OK, pulled well and all, but I did not wanna break the crank immediately, so took it easy not winding it out yet. Also front brakes would be nice and will need my full face helmet when I do take that first speed trial run w/ GPS and gloves on. No suave camel hair coat until Spring debut, coz too DAMN cold here!

rolling shots!!!
It IS alive, and fairly lively too . I let my friend take a spin for a pic and the damn thing is almost too fast as you can plainly see . I asked him to slow the heck down and finally got a slightly better shot. We then went for a ride. I TOLD him no front brakes yet, but he forgot a few times. That was fun.

Seriously, it pulls hard at first, then starts getting ragged, but when you shift to a higher gear it pulls again like a train until mid range revs hesitation and let down repeat. Must check timing, mixture & jetting. Pulled the stock cat muffler for a Sito + swap, but no upjet yet.
Hey you, SLOW DOWN!

Well I got some fresh pics that are convincing me the two tone is just fine. The holidays, basement flooding coz curtain drain clogged(digging cold mud is sure fun), some personal bizz and my whole life outa control some days, but NOW I will get back to normal and finish this gem. Fix fuel leak, fiddle some wires, get a legal plate someday, repair the original speedo, maybe track down some front brakes.... it seems the list is endless.

Thanks for the compliments, Now you can like it BETTER coz it runs great and is fast too.

From almost a month ago: " my whole life outa control some days, but NOW I will get back to normal and finish this gem. " But that was before my little boxing adventure( free 26/26, small door smallie ). Now that's all buttoned up, I spent the morning chasing most of those little details so I could try a REAL run.

The thing just wouldn't make power before and I was so bummed. After tracking down a gas leak and replacing the fuel line, I decided to see what main jet was it running? EUREKA, I found the problem maybe, the jet stack was all loose! Tighten that sucker up, go for a test spin and TONS of reliable smooth linear power now AND it ALWAYS starts first kick. Time to gas it up, go for a celebration ride and take victory pics as promised!

A beautiful sunny day in the 60's for official inaugural riding with my pal who shot the pics then again w/ my son. They both just loved old hard boiled and all the smooth power on offer!
Oops! Forgot to wipe off all the rest of that crap yella paint :(

Right on brother - You have got to be the most stylin rider I have seen, besides K32 of course.

Is that a feather in your headset? See? - Even hard boiled has some added bling, and it's just a test ride. I love it! Congrats on the easy fix and making it roll again.

Now, why can't I get that ZZ Top song out of my head? Razz emoticon

I could tell that the coat was very happy to be reunited as promised with this wonderful ugly duckling Vespa, and finally going for a short but sweet ride.
It then begged me to take it to be professionally cleaned and carefully pressed for the coming summer evening riding season, but only riding Hard Boiled.
Coming....
(yes I DO have a feather fetish, and it did NOT get away nor the one stuck in my helmet nor the one on my Sprint)
My poor Sprint is just green w/ envy,

I sure have missed this scoot! Planned to be gone for a few months, but with travel restrictions etc, it stretched into six months.

I closed the fuel tap and ran the motor to empty the carb before I left. I opened it back up and choked it then it roared to life after about five kicks. So .... where was I? I think kill wire and get the lights working, then more body rubbing. And ride it of course!

Thanks guys, it's mostly good to be back, but will miss the warm fall there when it starts raining here. But I get to finish up my 125 Super and ride it in great weather.

I've managed to install a kill wire, get the headlite working hi and lo beam, tail lite but not brake lite yet, horn honks even and speedo works too. The original speedo needs to be rebuilt so I'm temporarily using the original from my 50special. I buried the needle many times on my first big run yesterday to visit a friend on his farm. The bike ran great with plenty of 5 port reed valve power. Very smooth and linear and likes RPMs. Well pleased so far with this genuine LML motor.

I got collector plate applied for and have paper one good for 2 months. Also installed required mirror before my adventure.
here's my legal 'plate'
here's my legal 'plate'
very effective sturdy mirror and all yellow finally removed from outer legshields

No grass grows underneath your feet, er wheels..... Razz emoticon

Way to get back home and start where you left off on that sunny scoot, V oodoo! Fixing all the most important stuff so you can squeeze in some good rides before cold weather hits? I wholeheartedly approve!!

The white paint looks pretty glossy underneath all that sunny but runny yellow stuff and I can't wait to see the collector plate.

Very good looking scoot!

(yummy looking side of bacon, too..... Razz emoticon )

final cleanup with Ospho after, clearcoat on the floor bottom, and gloss white in the motor hole, orbital cut & polish on the rest and find a little decent matching touch up white to use as sparingly as I can.
When you apply ospho did it leave a whitish film over parts of the metal/paint? If so, did you just hit it with 0000 steel wool to remove before painting, or deal with it another way?

When I coated my p200 frame with ospho, ive got some white film areas from the ospho over my paint and metal.. probably where it was applied too heavily. Haven't had time to deal with that frame further yet, but have been wondering best way to deal with it prior to clear coat as I don't want it to keep that whitish film look once clear coated.
I had that too, went to the Ospho site and according to them that white film means it worked. They say to clean it up with mineral spirits before painting. That however did not get rid of it for me.
