I need some guidance, I just recently purchased my first Vespa My turning signals are not working at all. What are some things I can try from least expensive to more involved?

Electrical Stuff Can Be Complicated
Go to a dealer and have them fix it. If it has problems
later you can go back.

Disclaimer: I have no mechanical experience - even less with electrical matters.
Hats off to all you who can fix these things.

Bob, you'd go to the dealer to have them show you how to put the key in the ignition. Razz emoticon

First check the fuses, then the turn signal switch. Vespa switches go bad fairly regularly.

If you need help to find the fuse and get to the switch one of the LX guys will be around to tell you how.

Good luck! 8)

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes please, I know where some of the fuses are but not sure which one is for the turn signals. So if anyone can help with where to locate that fuse...

You have the manual. The fuse locations should be in there. The manuals are available in the Wiki page, accessed via the tab in the upper left corner of this page. You can probably find it online as well.

Bob, my bike has a screen just like yours and I found some serious buffeting taking place. I sourced a used pair of touring screen brackets and lifted the screen until I could fit my hand between the headlamp and the underside of the screen. I found the buffeting substantially reduced.

Use it... lose it.
Just sharing.

Re which fuse
... just pull one out in turn and look for a break in the wire.

You should carry a couple of spare fuses in with your on board tool kit.

Turn signals are for pussies, just use hand signals like a real man.

OK I'm kidding, the advice here is pretty solid. Fortunately at least hand signals are legal so you can get by until it's fixed.

In Italy, on some dangerous crossroads, a lot of scooter riders (me too) stretch out of the arm even if the direction indicators work ... you never know.

Windscreen Height
Fud,

I wonder if you are taller than I am? I am 5'9". I do not
notice as much wind bracketing.

Best to you from Minnesota.

I am 1.86 meters tall and I weigh 130 kilograms and my waist circumference is 1.5 meters...Oh I know ... I'm a little obese, I like to eat if you haven't understood. Crying or Very sad emoticon
So to stay on topic, I point out my "important" dimensions that because of them prevent other drivers, a good view of my direction indicators.

So more Attila the Hut than Attila the Hun?

Just playing with you and sorry it's a cultural reference you probably won't get. Though I imagine classic like Spaceballs must have an Italian dub or at least subtitles...

logical mind
If you have a logical mind and some mechanical capability, fixing the problem yourself should be possible. On the other hand, if you have no experience with electrical repair or mechanical work, you may succeed in disabling your scooter entirely, and running up a bigger bill at the dealer for them to correct your mistakes. If you've had success repairing other things, there's nothing particularly tough about working on scooters. If you've never fixed a single thing in your life, perhaps now is not the time to start. If it is not the fuse (be sure you are looking at the right one) it is probably time to take it to the dealer.

What's a DVD?
It is a silver-colored plastic disk on one side but it is not a U.F.O.

Science fiction, fantasy and war.

Yeah, and let's hope the OP gets back with some feedback...whether it's fixed or not.

Yes...it's right, could be the light turn relay or...on Italian forums, widespread oxidation on contacts is also reported.
Sorry for OT.

I have a 2012 Vespa 300 super, a few years after getting it my turn signal light went out so I replaced all of my turn signal lights with LED lights from Scooterwest as I thought they would last a long time and riding without turn signals is not fun, so far has been great. They have the kits and videos on how to install them, not a big deal. I have also burned out fuses on other things and it is quite easy to check your fuses and replace if bad. Hope this helps, congrats on your new scooter and ride safely.
