Well that's you, not everyone so unless you're a Time Lord or a Mind Reader you're speaking for others.

Here's a ready made product that gives you all the improved performance you could wish for so wouldn't you ?

How many threads have you read about larger displacement GTS's where everyone starts wetting their knickers ?

Many.

... we are talking about planes or scooters ..?
From what i know the power must be proportional to the mass, if a vehicle is too light compared to the power used then it takes off and becomes an airplane ...(please don't beat me).
PS: I did not understand if you wet your pants for fear or excitement ...

All these companies are sourcing old designs that the manufacturers have moved on from. The Morini 400 that was in the first generation Burgman is not a good engine.
In fact the Morini engine was a very good engine and capable of very big miles without issues. It was 385cc. I did the factory course on the Morini engine and stripped many for rebuild after they had covered in excess of 100,000 miles. The main issues it suffered were on the early carb fed engines in 2001 onward up to 2003 or 4. We got it with fuel injection in 2005 in the UK irc. When it went to fuel injection it was a genuine peach. Some used to get the rear wheel stuck on it's drive shaft splines because idiot techs and owners didn't lube the splines before refitting the wheel but not much else if it's serviced correctly. Nice smooth clutches etc. Some valve issues but exclusively caused by owners not checking the screw and locknut valve clearances but a very tough engine. In the Burgman it was putting out 32ps. By 2007 in the Suzuki's it was at the peak of it's development and very smooth and powerful.

Just a further note. I was down at our local Suzuki dealers yesterday when I noticed a bike I recognised and one that I had serviced countless times over the years. It was a fuel injected 2006 Burgman 400 with the Morini engine. It was in for a service and the dealer knew the owner well. He told me the bike had over 120,000 miles on the clock, all trouble free. Can't be bad.

Oil Use....
Out of interest, was just checking my factory notes on this Morini Engine.

I remember some owners complaining of early excessive oil use on this motor. Extensive investigations went on into why this way.

It transpired it was due to poor engine run in technique by owners. This centred around owners going too slowly in the first 500 miles causing the cylinders to glaze. Secondly, owners used car oil, diesel engine oil (often Rotella) and often even mineral oil. All those oils degrade the engine piston and rings early causing higher than normal oil use.

The majority of owners never ever had issues of any kind.

At the time, yes.

I can't remember the parent company's name but they also owned Ducati (bought from Cagiva) and the Benelli name.

I feel like I've learnt something today.

Capitano, The Benelli has a new obnoxious pipe and I feel like getting some points on my licence so when they have given you the all clear lets get down the coast and we can swap stories again.

Lets go looking for that miserable cafe owner again ?

Sorry for tardiness in replying. I only really come on here these days to check up on what Bill is doing. It's a friendly forum and I don't know why I don't spend more time here ... but I don't.

Yes, I' going with my Son as he lives 20 minutes away from the NEC. I don't know which day yet for certain.

For me the journey to Birmingham is reason enough not to go to the show.

The last time I felt like I was being treated like cattle was the last time I went to the show.

I'll pass.

Go during the week Bill. It's not crowded and much more relaxed. The show is exponentially better than it was even 5-6 years ago.

Yo! Yeah this is a good site especially if you like Vespas. I was going to the show with Chris (Mottza) but I've had a setback with my recovery from surgery so I've had to pull out. Doc says I'm doing too much! I'm ok but just got to rest more.

Speak soon, bye for now.

Again no it wouldn't stop people putting big bore kits on vintage stuff (47hp from a Lammy) and many , at least here in Thailand, are buying Parilla "Lambretta" look alikes and they have no real history. Parilla yes for kart engines and stuff but not scooters.

I don't understand your Dr. Who references. Maybe you didn't understand that the 47hp is a "vintage" bike

Oh I understand it all.

The desire to shoehorn many more cc's into a ( Vintage) chassis that it wasn't built to take it will always leave me a bit lost.

Just go and buy something faster.

Oddly enough here is your solution, even if it is made of plastic.

I remind you, if you don't know, that Parilla also built scooters of which the Levriere that was copied to make a German 50s scooter, the Bella Zundapp

Scenario
So you go and buy a 400cc Lambretta and you join a ride to the coast with your mates.

By the time you get there all of the vintage scooters would have broken down and you will probably end up being the only one to arrive.

Not only will all of your mates hate you for riding a plastic Lambretta but they will hate you for making it when they didn't.

... maybe it would have been so long ago but today there is a different vintage two-wheeled vehicle culture, in fact a copy (well done) of the same vintage model reinforces the image; it means that the idea is still valid to the point of reproducing it even now.
