Got the scoot up to 100mph on the turnpike, and it still got more power to go. I kept it constant speed of 85pmh for over 1hr 30minute.

cover total 661 mile or 1070km in 10 hrs. This is a real touring scoot, not really a scoot, but more like a touring bike, and hadling like a sport bike. Well, it's a combination of everything.

I wish it having a larger fuel tank, so I don't have to stop for gas every 2hr or 150mile.

This scoot is good for hiway speed from 55mph and up, below 50mph, it kind of shaky and vibrate alot. Best speed zone is cruising around 65-75 mph.

I was looking for any posting in internet about the longest trip over 600-700mile/day with a maxi scoot, but found none. over 1000km in 10 hrs, this could be a record for the BV500.

Welcome, and good going on your BV500! I enjoy long distance riding too. Another member on this forum (Mesmer) did a saddlesore 1000, which is 1000 miles in 24 hours on his Vespa GT! I have also done a few 1000 hour events, one on a Burgman 650. As far as over 600 miles in 10 hours, that's pretty good!

Cheers,

Bob

I've heard about the SaddleSore 1000 (a.k.a. Iron Butt) and I thought about attempting to do it on my 150cc (sold). That would mean riding it at 60mph all the time (which is about 90-95% open throttle...too hefty on the engine, don't you think?). Add a few rest stops and an hour for meals and you end up finishing in about 18 hours. It's possible!

Welcome, Newbie...!

Great!

Jess and I did the 800 or so miles between Amerivespa and the Bay Area in a day.

Jess is the real hero, having done it on his GTS - well mostly, read the thread, while I was on my luxurious 500cc Scarabeo.

Here's the original post: Alive. Home.

Here's Mesmer's Ironbutt story of 1031 miles in 18 hours: 1031.4 Miles in 18 hours and 40 minutes

That's 1000mile/18hrs got the title ironbutt. Very impressive!

I started out kinda difference. I won the ebay item

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=019&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWN%3AIT&viewitem=&item=290159707908&rd=1

So, I have to pick it up over the weekend. I had 3 choice, ship it, or take my GMC truck down to Dallas 22hrs round trip, or drive to the airport, fly down there and drive the scoot back home.

I don't want to ship it, also considering 22hrs drive is much for a day all by myself.

I called the saleman Friday afternoon, and told him I will be in the Lovefield airport at 11am Saturday, then went to SWA booked the ticket. All was set at that time.

I went to bed at 11, wake up at 7, took shower and got a cup of coffee, and jumped in car at 7:50 and broken the law from fly on I70 at 85mph. I had to be checked in at 9, or I'd be late. the 30 mile distance form my home to the airport was looong. traffic built up from weekend construction, and I almost missed the fly, but I made it.

The 1h 30minute fly was quick.
I got picked up at the airport at 11:20am by the saleman assistance. he was pretty cool guy. The 30mile trip to the dealer at FW was quick too. We arrived at the dealer at around 12pm. All paper work had been done ready for my signature.
Now it time to take a first look at the scooter. Oh my god, this thing is huge. way too big for my body size. I'm 5'4", weight 130#. Darn, I couldn't push it off the center stand, too heavy. the guy got to help me with that. Oh, one more thing. I didn't know where the gas tank was, and the sale assistance didn't know either, We ran around the scoot look up and down, and finally, we had to open the user manual book. You have to use the key, push in the keylock cylinder to pop open the glove storage, then pull on one of the tab in side the glove box storage to pop another fuel access door, then you can see the fuel tank cap. It was crazy.

I hooped up on the saddle, darn, i got a short leg. the only way I could reach the ground was to move my ass all the way forward on the saddle, and tiptoe in one leg. It must be pretty funny seeing me struggle with the scoot. I was thinking, how the heck can I get home with this thing, 660 mile away, and it was 12:25pm.

Haha more to come later.

Ah ha! I always figured that was what the other lever was for. I just couldn't figure out why there were two in there. One that is tightly connected (trunk release) and the other nearly flopping loosely. On the '07 Scarabeo 500, they have apparently replaced that functionality with a key release immediately adjacent to the gas hatch.

Back on topic, well done on the ride. My longest distance has been a few miles under 500.

Congrats on the new scoot!!

Don't worry about the size of it, you'll quickly get used to it. I'm 5'3" and when I first got my BV500 I had second thoughts...it felt too big and yeah, she's a heavy one. Before long though, I didn't even think about the size of the bike...only about how much I love riding it.

Thanks, A Deal like this is hard to come by. I snagged it, and ran 661 mile in 10 hrs.
