Modern Vespa

Saw this for sale on craigslist near me and thought it would be a cool helmet to ride around the neighborhood with. I and was going to offer $40 for it but from the pictures I've seen of a similar Vespa helmet it looks different. It doesn't have any buttons on the top or side of the helmet. Is this a fake knockoff Vespa Helmet? I've seen a few knockoff Shoei helmets at swap meets but those are fake $600 to $800 helmets. Would someone make a fake helmet that sells for $100 on amazon?

That DOT silkscreen looks shady as shit, but the only photo of a Vespa helmet I can find with a DOT emblem is this very similar looking one from a dealership in Florida:

Aliexpress.com has hundreds of helmets in all sorts of styles.
One may just match that one...!

I think they wanted about $60 for a similar helmet in Indonesia at the Vespa dealer.
So your one should be OK. It didn't say made by Vespa or made in Italy or...

I didn't buy it because it had no provision for a visor and I didn't know how much other helmets cost.

Well, don't know whether it is an original or not, but all I can say is that it sure looks quite different from the Nazioni model by Vespa offered here in Europe.

It looks like one of the Vespa Nazioni helmets Piaggio sells for kids. If it's a kid's medium, it is going to be pretty small for an adult.

That's a Fulmer helmet bag next to it. Personally not one of my favorite brands. And yeah, it scares me that I can tell by that little bit shown.

This looks exactly like what i was offered and i asked about a visor for the studs. Tidak ada (no have).

All the Vespa Nations helmets I've seen have the visor snaps. Weird that this one doesn't. But maybe the kids version doesn't?
But the interior padding looks like quality and possibly legit to me.

You can say the same thing about most Vespa accessories. That just looks like a Vespa logo on a watch to me.

Piaggio has gone through different suppliers over the years. Here's a Piaggio part number for a medium kid's Tricolori that you can google to your hearts content and see about ten different very "real" versions of the same helmet.
