Going to work last week, a deer ran out in front of me, and crashed into the left front tire area. I drove over him at about 50mph. If I had been on a conventional 2 wheeler, I'm sure I would have gone down. It was like a very large bump in the road. I stopped and went back...it was dying, I had apparently broke it's back. It torn apart my left front wheel mud flap and tore the left turn signal wheel flare off. I cut the wires to the turn signal and removed the wheel flare and put it under my seat. The mud flap was in several pieces. I went on to work...everything else seemed normal. When I got home,I re-secured the wheel flare with some stainless small screws...it is held in place with some small plastic ears...they broke off. The mud flap was $44.00. The only tricky part was jacking up the left front to remove the tire, re-bolting and installing the tinnerman clips that hold the mud flap in place. It's back on the road and doing fine. The MP3 is as strong as a tank. It was a hell of a hit. motorcycle bill
Wow crazy story, glad to hear you and the bike are alright.
Crazy thing is if you were driving a Fuoco, the deer probably would have looked at it and died of fright on the spot before you even had a chance to hit it.
WOW good to hear a happy outcome although I don't think the outcome is typical. Especially at 50 mph
Did you take the deer home for the freezer
I like to schmuck them at no more than 33 mph when driving the truck. Not much damage to the deer, plenty of good meat untainted and only about $800 damage to the truck.
If you do this about 4 times a season and only submitt for insurance once a year you are ahead of the game.
WI is so full of forest rats that it is hard to limit youself to 4 tho.
Do you have any pics of the aftermath? I'm trying to envision exactly how you hit a deer at 50mph and didn't end up 'feasting on asphalt' to use the title of a favorite show of mine
