Hey,
The muffler bearing is arriving on Wednesday. Thanks to MotoAmore, but too late I've burned through the rear brake line. I've got one coming tomorrow from Motorsport Scooters-tired of waiting on my dealer to get one in for me. My question is:

Have you ever replaced a rear brake line? If you have, how long did it take? Were you able to thread it through, or did you have to take from the headlight assembly, glove box, and everything else apart to put it in?

I'm thinking that I'll just spend the money and have the dealer do it for me, but I'd really like to save the cash. I know that it should be a warranty issue considering the recall, but I don't even like to deal with my guys. "I'll call you back" "we'll get the part on Tuesday for sure" "We're too busy to fix it now, bring it in in two weeks." (Common refrains from my local dealer)

So I'm looking for experience here. How long did it take you?

I'm a novice mechanic, cut my teeth on air cooled volkswagons and do know how to turn a wrench. I guess if a master mechanic, Greasy is a 10, I'd be a 4 or 5. Can I do this?

By the way if I do do it. I"ll post pics of it and let you know how it went.

Ciao

Paddy, I'm sure you can do it. There's GOT to be somebody here who's been through that job before. Sure hope you've seen the last of your problems...

You will have to remove all the bodywork for that. Or at least most of it. That line is clipped to the frame, and I would highly doubt the chances of pulling through on the ned of the old hose.*

*I haven't done this on your bike. Just general scooter theory.

Hi!

I've done it on my GT 200. Should be almost same. Took about a day. "Motorsport Scooters" is totally right. You have to remove some, not all, bodywork to do it.
No very hard to do yourself, just keep all the bolts in place and remember where they should go when you reassemble

You won't find it on our website, but last I checked we had more in stock. Give a call today from 11am-6pm PST if you would like to order one. Our website is just a small selection of what we actually have in stock.

it's a long and involved job.
you'll need to remove most of the bodywork: floorboard, glovebox, front headest-- as that you really can't thread the line through the parts.

figure on a few hours at least. you won't need any special tools, just the standard stuff.

if you cut your teeth on V-dub stuff, then you won't have any problems. like i said, it's just time consuming. the hardest part of the whole ordeal is bleeding the brakes back down.

best,
