Modern Vespa

Dust off the lederhosen, it's that time again. Skutoberfest is 11 years old and we're celebrating with a great day of riding, German beer, bratwurst and oom-pah pah music. Secret Society SC SD will lead a scenic route through our great city. We will do the loop up to Mt. Helix, and onward to El Cajon. To top it off, the German American Society has extended a special invitation to the most authentic Oktoberfest in town. All riders and their passengers get in for free with monitored scoot parking right up front.

Details:
Saturday Oktober 6th. Where: Gelato Vero Caffe (1731 India St San Diego 92103) Meet at 10am. We're leaving at 11am. (Jenn says this is in real time, not scooter time. Expect to leave at 11am!)

Ride through SD with a stop on Mt. Helix to The Oktoberfest in El Cajon (1017 S. Mollison Ave, El Cajon, 92020).

Afterwards shower off the bratwurst and strudel smell and meet back up for the night ride at Kensington coffee(4141 Adams Ave, San Diego 92116) at 7pm. If you can't make the ride at night, meet us at The Live Wire(2103 El Cajon Blvd San Diego 92116).

Personally, I'd like to invite everyone to our authentic Oktoberfest in El Cajon. I will be your host and Burgermeister at the Oktoberfest itself, so sadly, I will not be on the rally, but I will be at the destination! I want to stress that this is NOT the La Mesa October/Craft-Fest of the past. This is the real deal!!!! Come get your Warsteiner on!

Awesome, Gitta! Did you say this was last weekend? Then we have another one this coming weekend? Great! Can't wait! Now, you'll have to teach us some German. I'll need to know just two important phrases...

Yes - Oktoberfest in El Cajon is two weekends long - so I have quite the beer drinking advantage. This weekend is the final one. Then I am also Burgermeister at another Oktoberfest...but that is a small one in El Cajon at the Elks Lodge.

If you all are coming, please bring plenty of cash!!!! Our ATM ran out of money last Saturday night, so that ended some peoples night early.

no, but I am glad you were there to help him. You are good in an emergency I think. He will be sore tomorrow for sure.

Huh? Did someone take a spill?

yeah, the poor guy went down about 2 minutes into the ride. We were heading up Washington St, up the hill, and someone stopped short in front of him. His brakes locked and down he went. Scotter must have been right behind him because he said he barely missed crashing into him. He, Mala Mujer, PCbikedude and a few other folks stayed behind to make sure the guy was ok and ended up getting separated from the rest of the ride. They went to Mt Helix as soon as they could and met up with the rest of us there. I think the guy that crashed will be ok, but will surely be sore in the morning. His pants were ripped at the knee and the face shield on his helmet was scraped. He seemed pretty shaken up.
