Hello, I'm looking for some advice on the current crop of cylinder kits available. I have a P150 engine on my workbench. It seems to have had the wrong clutch or lacked a spacer. It was running when I got it but soon the primary gear rivets machined themselves away. I'm going to see if I can clean it out and put things back together with the right parts. I'm thinking this is the time to go for a bigger piston and cylinder too. Last time I did this I went with a DR 177 (different engine and scooter). There now seems to be more options than I was previously aware of though. I'm wondering if anybody has any suggestions? What have you tried lately and what did you think? My plan for this engine is for it to power a 60's largeframe used for daily commutes of 30 mins or less in medium stop and go traffic with top speeds around 45-50mph. Quick and reliable would be the goal.

- 3 port 150cc top end with a box exhaust would do well
LML - 5 port 150cc top end with a box exhaust would do well

and after that any of the aftermarket bolt on are a good enough option..

Depending on what you want to spend, a Polini 177 could be a good option. Much better port timings than the DR and a higher overall quality. Broad power band, so nice n' torqe-y, fairly quick off the line. Pair it with a box exhaust and some porting work and you have a nice, reliable ride that'll run for years.

I have one in my "commuter" Stella, built on a Sprint V motor, and while it's not as fast as the motor that's in the Sprint, it's reliable as reliable can be, usually 1-2 kicks to start, even in cold weather, and I even kept the auto-lube.

Thanks! I'm game to give that pinasco a try. Box exhaust... like a SIP Road?

I just finished a Pinasco 199cc (the 177 with a 60mm crank and base gasket).
It was my first engine, but I'm absolutely pleased by the quality of the kit.

I'm running mine with a 60mm crank, too, and a SIP RoadXL. I love it.
