Anyone know what size thread the OEM GT 200 mirror threads are? (If they're 10mm, there are lots of after-market MC mirrors that could be used too...)

The OEM mirrors on the GT 200 are 8MM, sorry. If they were 10MM you would have a large selection. I had thought about changing mine but it appeared to be a bigger project than I wanted to attempt trying to modify the 10MM mirror shaft not to mention getting the rubber boot to fit on properly if I did change mirrors. I also didn't want to drill and tap the original mirror base. Maybe you can find some 8MM replacement mirrors, I didn't have much luck.

8mm are VERY hard to find... Let me re-state that. Good looking/cool 8mm mirrors are hard to find. I eventually found a pair on ebay after much searching.

There is someone out there who makes an adaptor that screws on to convert 8-10mm or was it the other way around. Hmmm

Here's a source for the adaptors. They conceal nicely beneath the boot and open up a world of mirror options.

Hey thanks, that's a great link... Laughing emoticon
I checked with Parts Unlimited NY, and they told me I could order that Emco stuff from a MC parts dealer right around the corner from me!
So I ordered two 10mm to 8mm mirror adapters ($5+shipping), and soon I'll be able to use my favorite ex-motorcycle mirrors on the GT200!

Cool. A photo or two of the completed project would be great.

I think some of those scrolly V-Twin mirrors would look good on my scoot!

Actually I don't know if many would think that my mirror changes would greatly improve appearances, because the OEMs are pretty nice looking IMO. But I have used EMGO's Mark II mirrors on several bikes previously and like them tremendously, but then they are black plastic with black rubber ribbed 'boot' stems.

But the things are damn near perfect! They have a large, rectangular shape, are so flexible they'll bend in any direction for adjustment, and once set they stay absolutely firm in the wind! And they'll never vibtate at all! Never seen any other mirrors like them...

So I'm using them for better riding, not for appearances. (However I will post some photos later.) Also am wondering if these mirrors, which are considerably lighter in weight than the OEMs, will have an effect on the handlebars and the handling?

The appearance would give clues to the function, since I've never been satisfied with the stock mirrors. Maybe the better questions are:
a) what are the dimensions of the glass in the Mk II mirrors,
b) is the glass flat or convex,
c) can you see past your shoulders; are they wider, narrower, higher, or lower than the stock mirrors, and
d) why do I ask so many questions?

a) Adequate. Biggeer and wider than stock.
b] Flat, like the earth...
c}Yes. Wider. Lower. Rectangular. And much more flexible. (Especially since the OEM stems do not bend at all!)
d) 'Cause when you were a child nobody answered you?

GT 200 Mirrors
Thanks for the info about the adaptors, I ordered some today. My son has a BV500 with rectangular mirrors that are kind of good looking, they may even be 8MM. He has only had it 2 weeks so he probably wouldn't appreciate me taking it apart to see if they are 8MM. You might want to check with the Piaggio/Vespa dealer as to the price. You can see them on line by bringing up the Vespa website.
