Hi folks! This is my first post here and first of all i want to thanks for such a nice forum and a lot of great projects here!

I'm coming from a motorcycle world (mainly KTM) and this is my first time to work on scooter or Vespa ever. Friend of mine asked to do some job on his Vespa and in this case i'm learning by doing. Moped needed some love, weak/not working electric starter motor, kickstart mechanism damaged. He want's to change piston and IF the cylinder will be in bad condition than go for bigbore version.

One of starter motor bolts is broken, will try to weld some nut and remove it.
Cleaned, greased and assembled kickstart lever and spring, somehow managed to do it without special tool and now it works perfect!

Piston cylinder wall clearance
Hi guys!

Today measured a cylinder bore in shop with right tools and now it's time to order a piston. i haven't any experience with such a small bore engine and i the clearance about the same as larger bore engines (0.060-0.070mm)?

The cylinder bore is 57.050mm to rear-front and 57.020mm side - side.
i guess piston should be about 56.980?

Moped owner ordered new piston and it finally arrived with some gaskets and brake cable. The problem is: the new piston pin is 14mm diameter, but old one 15mm! Is it from some other generation et engine?[/img]

Hi (labas rītas )

Could be, but as i said this is my first time in to Vespa engine and piston was ordered by owner!

I installed the new rings and circlips on old piston, because owner have no time
for another piston order. Somehow already this order took about 6 weeks to get it!

Already put the cylinder and had back to engine and according to manual head bolt torque is 16Nm + 90 degree, is it ok? seems no so much!

My 500cc motorcycle had to torqued till 50 or 60nm

16Nm +90° is correct.
